Foxbat-7 CEC Kharon - Hangar Bay #1 - Hangar Deck
Post Holocaust Day #108

The Raptor is fairly cramped quarters. A hydraulic hatch over the port wing allows entry, opening into the main body. A bench runs along each side of the ship, with seats and harnesses for eight passengers. The cockpit area at the front contains side-by-side seats for the pilot and co-pilot, along with banks of displays and controls for the avionics and sensors. A large canopy provides good forward and side visibility for the crew.

Matto clomps up the ramp and through into the cockpit, gnawing on a gummy bear the meanwhile. "Okay, dudes," he tells his backseater and the marines hitching a ride. "This is it. If you need the head, go now or forever hold your pee." 'Cause he's powering up the Foxbat.

[Wolf-5: Willem] Lights. Check. Life Support. Check. Weapons systems. Check. All systems green.

Epi settles in, all kitted up in her Marine best. She's got her game face on. "Marines learned how to hold it in boot," she calls back to Kissy.

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "CIC, Dash. All systems clean and green. All ready to rock on my account."

[Wolf-6: Ferris] The same thing over in Wolf Six is occuring. As Ferris works his way down the cockpit checklist, Ferris tightens down his own helmet, and lets the cockpit down. Thumbing up to the flight crew, his own bird is rolled out and moved to one of the launch tubes beside Hale.

Blake has his flight suit on, his sidearm stowed, and his seat harness secured. While not a marine, he's been tagged to help haul and tote things. Because that's what he's good at, being a mule. That and he knows a little bit about tylium handling. Score.

[Wolf-12: Samantha] Case is getting to know a new bird, but she doesn't seem to really be struggling or have forgotten anything over her medical leave. She's just smiling, the mood infectious at being back in the cockpit again as she finishes her checks and waits for clearance to fly.

Komnenos simply rolls his eyes at Matto's pun. He offers a little encouragement of his own, though. "Barf bags are under th' seats," he offers with a smirk before turning back to his station. "All systems check out; DRADIS online, countermeasure suite on standby mode. Ready whenever you are, Kissybear."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Dash, this is Kharon. Message received and understood, please stand by."

[Wolf-3: Kai] Kai's already settled in the cockpit of his viper, helmet tugged on, canopy hauled down while the deck crew swarm below. After disengaging the fuel hose from his fighter, and boards verified as green, he gives the signals officer his thumbs-up and gets a tow to the launch tubes.

[TAC3] Ferris says, "Kharon Actual, Littleboy, checking in. All systems green."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem echoes, smoothly and slowly, "Kharon-Actual, Rebound. All systems Green. Likewise. Awaiting your word."

[Wolf-10: Hale] After going over the preflight with his crew. Everything is all green. And look no flickers, thus proving all the little knicks and kinks had been worked out. A thumbs up as Rabbit is moving to being tugged off to the tubes to prepare for launch.

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "All fighter craft awaiting in the tubes, Kharon. Continue to check in while the nav officer finishes final jump plotting operations and stand by…"

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Kharon Actual, this is Rabbit. All green and good to go."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Boards are green, Kharon. On your mark."

[Wolf-6: Ferris] As the other craft get rolled up, Ferris double-checks everything in his cockpit, in Wolf Six. As he does, he glances down the line… Seeing Hale's bird being rolled up, he looks out that way. Giving his sortie wingman a thumbs up as he glances out the cockpit toward the oter ship, Ferris turns back to everything else… to focus.

Matto goes through the checklist, anyhow. Not to say he doesn't trust Toes, it's just one of those things he always does. Two sets of eyes are better than one. "Slick times, Thorn," he calls back, then clicks on the comms to report green status to CIC.

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Understood. All fighter craft, jump preparations are complete . Prepare for FTL travel to Solon II in five…four…three…two…one…mark."

[Foxbat-4: Legacy] It doesn't take long for Thea and Cookiemonster to do their pre-flight. She's locked, loaded and ready to go. The Raptors are keeping to the back tonight, letting the kids go out first. Like cats to the food bowl.

[Wolf-8: Jupiter] Fingers is doomed to fly with a big blue smear of ink on her face. It should have plenty of time to soak in really well during the mission. Note to self: Do not chew on pens. Grouse.

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Kick the tires and light the fires."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "All fighter craft, Kharon. Transit is complete, all fighters clear the tubes immediately."

[Wolf-5: Willem] There's a faint smile on Wil's lips which ebbs and flows as he settles into the cockpit, his hand settling on the stick. No, not like that.

Dutch is probably the last one to get in, but after that he's strapping in with agrumble, as rifle, and medkit are secured. Oh how he hates these sorta missions, but right now, its something that needs to be done-and apparently the good Sergeant is the one to do it, or something of the like. "Just don't crash.." That is all he offers.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Actual, Rebound. Dash and I are clear. I always wanted a mining colony vacation."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Rebound, Kharon. Understood — All craft, DRADIS contacts inbound from the planet; you are authorized for weapons hot immediately upon clearing the carrier."

Epi spares a brief glance for Dutch but says nothing. She just settles back in her seat and focuses on a point off in the distance.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "I think I'm done with vacations after last month. Let's get the gas and get home."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Littleboy's clear, Kharon. Confirm weapons hot. Over."

Matto chuckles up front in reply to Dutch's comment, "Well, I usually don't take requests, buuut…" he draws it out for whatever comic effect it might elicit.

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. Do you want some playmates out there or do you want us in the barn?"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Oh shit…there's company, bright and clear."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Kharon, Spider. I read five contacts, acknowledge?"

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Negative, Black Cat. We'll take out the trash for you, tonight."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Kharon, Littleboy. Confirmed, I've got contacts - estimate two minutes to intercept. Confirm, over?"

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Spider, Kharon. Confirmed, five enemy contacts inbound."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. Copy that, Spider. Don't forget the recycling."

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Wing, Dash. I'm getting them too. Five at bearing 32 karom 3 enroute."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, " Spider, Rabbit. I confim. I caught five incoming. *pause* Kharon, Rabbit. Permission to go Hot? Over."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Rabbit, Kharon. You've already got it."

[Foxbat-7: Matto] Foxbat-7 emerges more or less in the wake of the other, and continues contentedly enough to hang back until the path's been cleared well and proper.

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "I got your back, Rabbit."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem grumbles into the com, "Dash, Rebound. I see them. Won't see 'em in a minute. Heh. Heh. Heh."

"Damn Dutch, grow a pair." Ashe comments from where he sits, trying to be casual during the flight.

Jules is bobbing her helmeted head a little in the back. She doesn't have headphones on, but she could be jamming in her head.

Dutch glances over towards Ashe "Watch your tongue, I know its used to pilot's assholes, but when you ride, you can can it." Barked back from the grumpy as shit medic. A lean back into his chair. He'll wait.

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, " Littleboy, Rabbit. Thanks mate, lets see if we can bloody rope em in."

There's nothing much to be done while one is sitting in a Raptor waiting to take off, especially when there's excitement going on outside. So finally Epi calls out to Thorn, "Are we there yet, Lieutenant?" Yes, there's a grin on her face.

Blake glances between the marines and quietly shakes his head. Nope, he's not getting into the middle of this. He likes his hide. A bit of a smirk is cracked as Epi asks the fateful question, that he's been guilty of once or twice.

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Right with you, Rabbit."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Fingers, I gotcha back there? Can ya see through all that blue?"

There's an exasperated sound from the ECO at the antics of the Marines. He turns from his station to shoot a glare at Ashe and Dutch before turning to Epi. "Don't make me turn this thing around, Shortstack," he replies with the barest hint of a smile.

"Hey Squealer, why does everyone call you Shortstack? Is that like your old nickname or something?" Ashe asks over towards Epi with a tilt of his head and a small wink.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "All right, boys. Let's slash and dash. Rabbit, split left on my mark. Rebound, split right. Case, you and Fingers are with me; we'll nail them up the centre, and I don't want to hear any dirty jokes about that. Let's keep this quick and clean."

Matto is good at waiting. He listens in on the comms for a quiet while before calling back, "Sounds like they ran into some trouble up ahead. We're just going to hang back here 'til they're done doing their pewpew thang."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Spider, Rabbit. I'm ready"

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Mark."

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Copy that. Rebound clear the way I'll keep them off your back. Smash and grab."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Spider, Rebound. Understood. Got something special planned."

Epi gives Ashe a somewhat superior look. "My old nickname, yes. You're the only one who calls me the other one." She leans WAAAAY forward again. "I promise not to kick the back of your seat, Lieutenant Lightloafers. Are we there yet? Sunshine wants to know."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Rabbit, Littleboy. Hangin' in with you, boss."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Littleboy, Rabbit. Roger mate you're doing fine."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Open fire when we intercept, sir?"

"I am kind of curious," Jules notes quietly, pausing in her head bobbing to focus on Epi. "Not that I have anything I'd rather be doing. It just seems a shame to get all geared up and spend all this time sitting around… you don't get all dolled up for prom just to sit at your table all night and dance for one song."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Confirmed, Case."

"Speaking of getting dolled up Jules." Ashe offers towards Sunshine with a quirked eyebrow but nothing further to add to it.

Dutch looks back towards Ashe for a second and there's a grin over to Epi. Yeah Shortstack was the one he got, and the one she said she hated, hence his sticking to it. And there's a turn of his head back over towards Jules, one brow raised for a second. "You went to prom dressed like this?" Nothing like shooting the shit, while pilots-well, you know.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Come on, Fingers, clean the bastard up."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Spider, Rebound. I owe you a drink, Sir. Now back to our regularly scheduled beating."

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Consider target one nailed, Spider. Didn't even have to buy him dinner first."

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Fingers and Case, Dash. I owe you one. Great pickup."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Spider, Rabit… Littleboy, check your six, Boss, you got one on your tail! I clipped 'er wing… I'm comin' in for you, Rabbit."

"Ask a silly question, Corporal, and you'll get a silly answer," Thorn warns Epi sardonically. "Have patience. The Vipes will clean up th' trash… eventually."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Spider, Kharon. What's the status on that fighter wing?"

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Nice shooting, Fingers. Rebound, your bandit's toast."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, " Littleboy, Rabbit. I see him, I'm going to try an come around an smash him into your line of fire. Stay loose, buddy."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "We're tearing them to pieces, Kharon. Do we have anything else incoming?"

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Took a bit of a ding but I'm fine. Somebody call the insurance company."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Rabbit, Littleboy. Copy that, boss. Bring 'em around, and I'll cure that Toaster head of all 'is ails…"

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Kharon here, That's a negative, Spider. DRADIS is clear other than the remnants of the Raiders you are engaging."

"What?" Sunshine eyeballs Ashe with a deer in the headlights look. Ah innocence. A blink later and she's looking over at Dutch and nodding, "Exactly like this, only I think my prom had more grenades."

Epi looks back and forth between Ashe and Sunshine curiously. Yes, she's got that wide-eyed look of 'please, keep me occupied.'

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Dash, Rebound. Keep on this piece of shit. We'll get him. I want to mount that thing's head on the Deck as a souvenir."

"If you're bored," Kisseus offers from up front, still waiting on the word 'go,' himself, "You can play a game. Twenty questions or I Spy or what-have-you." Got to keep the Marines entertained.

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "The hell are they feeding these things? Rebound, Dash. Copy let's smoke this son of a bitch…"

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Rabbit, Littleboy. That toaster's guns are -poppin' up,- el-tee. Consider 'em done for. Want me to continue persuit and bring 'er on down?"

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "All fighter craft, this is Kharon. Be advised, our countermeasures officer has disabled enemy weaponry temporarily. Engage accordingly."

"I spy… with my little eye… something that begins with the letter… M." Thorn smirks with relish as he takes Kissy up on his idea.

Dutch chuckles softly towards Sunshine as he taps his helmet. And then he is tightening his straps just a little more. "I bet you were th' belle of the ball too." A grin all the same-and he is looking back towards Epi for a second.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Kharon. All points, give them everything you've got. Let's wrap up this show."

"Now now Dutch, don't get jealous. Just cause you can't parade around in your own dress anymore." Ashe sits with his eyes closed now only jabbering a little bit.

Blake has his eyes closed by now, his head tilted back to rest on the seat and his face slightly canted towards the roof of the Raptor. "Momma's boy." He offers in answer to Thorn, obviously awake enough to play along.

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, " Spider, Rabbit. Copy that. I'm giving her all she's got Cap'n."

Of course the Kharon's littlest Marine bounces slightly on her seat. "Meat head," she offers with a grin. But then she catches Dutch's movement and pauses, tilting her head to the side. She reaches out, though doesn't touch. "I can probably get a tighter pull from this angle," she tells him.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Kharon, Spider. All targets are destroyed. You are clear to launch raptors."

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Looks like it's wings for dinner tonight."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Foxbat-4 ready to launch on your mark, CIC."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Splash 1 here. Frakking finally…"

[Foxbat-4: Legacy] Thea gears everything up, exchanging a look with Cookies. Both of them are grinning slightly. A shared joke, perhaps?

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Kharon, Rebound. You should see this. It's -beautiful-. Our thanks."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Littleboy, Splash one. Hot -damn.-"

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Foxbat-4, Kharon. Dustoff from carrier and begin your mission."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Littleboy, Rabbit. Bloody nice shot."

[Foxbat-7: Matto] Kissybear lets his backseater take care of the task of entertaining the Marines while he keeps tabs on the comms, "Oh, that's us," he remarks, then switches on a com switch, leaning in.

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "That's your splash, Rebound. Lit that bastard up like a candle."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Kharon, Black Cat. We're out of here. See you on the return. Keep the coffee hot."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Understood, Black Cat, wilco."

[TAC3] "Kissybear" Matto says, "Kharon, Foxbat-7, we are green for launch."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Rabbit, Littleboy. Copy that, el-tee. Woo."

A breath is let out of Jules' lungs and she relaxes in her seat again. "It was a fun night." She grins at Dutch and then toys with her rifle. Not the safety, though. The barrel or something.

An eyebrow is raised at Blake. "No, not quite. And who did you think I was looking at, then, anyway?" He breaks off, listening to something on the radio. "And, just like that, we're cleared for takeoff." He pauses. "For your edification, the answer was 'Marines'. T' be followed by another M — more Marines. Then, an E — even more Marines." Thorn pauses again for dramatic effect. "I'm here all week, ladies and gentlemen. Tips appreciated."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Foxbat-7, Kharon. You are cleared for launch. Good hunting."

"I'm fine, Jarrot." intoned as Dutch looks back towards the other Matine a look over towards Ashe "Sorry, I gave it to your mother before we decided to blow out of here. Next time though I'll pick out something floral, so you're frakking impressed." A chuckle as eyes close for a second "Well at least our crew is talking.."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Dash, Rebound. Thanks for the help. You know I don't like to toot my own horn, but -"

[Foxbat-4: Legacy] Foxbat-4 comes out of the tubes, gliding into a position behind the back-most Vipers. It's a nice, easy movement.

Blake quirks a smirk, but doesn't answer Komnenos' question.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Good shooting, Vigilantes. That's how it's done. Black Cat, Kissybear, we'll scout out ahead of you and make sure there aren't any toasty surprises waiting for you down there, then the show's all yours."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat's on your six. Nice work out here. We'll hold for your clear."

[Wolf-6: Ferris] And now, it's back into Formation. Wolf Six, under the flying hand of Ensign Ferris 'Littleboy' Jaimson comes gliding into the Viper formation as everything becomes cleared up. Wolf six takes up a position beside Wolf ten, as it's pilot is assigned as Wolf ten's wingman for this sortie. As he does, the pilot turns his head to look out the canopy toward the other ship.

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Rabbit, Littleboy. Y'holding up okay, boss? I thought I saw a couple of tracers goin' your way."

[Foxbat-7: Matto] Foxbat-7 emerges more or less in the wake of the other, and continues contentedly enough to hang back in formation with the other Raptor, letting the vipers snowplow through any further obstacles.

[Wolf-10: Hale] Rabbit wrangles em and it seems Littleboy takes em down. So far a good bit of team work. And he's coming back into formation, but there's a waggle of his wings in a salute for the newest member of the wing. So far, so good. And eyes look to the horizon-and to his DRADIS

"Only because silence is more annoying. I swear if I have to see any of you more than I already do I might well start wearing a blindfold." Ashe shakes his head.

[TAC3] "Kissybear" Matto says, "Black Cat, Kissybear, I'm with you."

Epi nods to Dutch and looks away. "I've seen your shooting scores, Swift. You already do."

[Wolf-3: Kai] With the high orbit airspace cleared, the trip through Solon's mesosphere and troposphere is considerably less exciting. It's a planet, though only barely. A nitrous oxide and sulfuric acid composition lends it a yellowish orange tint, and as the wing descends more deeply into the lower atmosphere, a heavy, acidic rain picks up. It's not quite a storm, but the winds are fierce and the cloud cover thick, rendering the surface in near constant darkness no matter the time of day. As for DRADIS, all still seems clear. Nothing to contend with, at least not in the air.

[Wolf-12: Samantha] Case settles back into formation, flying a bit more freely now than before. Still keeping in her proper poistion, but not adjusting at ever last tiny little bit to be in exact position. Back to the way she used to fly.

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Rain looks acidic. Glad I'm in here…"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Yeah… I'll say I sure as hell don't miss 'fresh air'. Recycled shit is plenty nice for me."

[Wolf-5: Willem] Burning sky. That's pretty much Rebound's M.O. is right now. A little glance to the DRADIS console as his plane breaks atmo with that familiar halo. He reflexively grabs at the controls and steadies his bird for the transition.

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "I dunno, at least it's a welcoming sort of color."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Kissy, Black Cat. Keep to my six for the time being until Spider gives the all clear for landing. We're going for point A, first, assuming it's clear."

[Wolf-6: Ferris] As the wing enters the … well, crappy atmo conditions, Wolf Six hangs in there. Littleboy also checks his DRADIS, and just continues along the pre-planned flight path as everyone sticks together. Hmm…

[Wolf-3: Kai] Spider's hand is steady on the stick, no matter the rattle and thump his fighter makes as they burn through the atmosphere, and he begins bleeding the fiery halo of planetary entry.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "What, like a birthday cake on fire?"

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "All points, I'm not reading any contacts on DRADIS. Zero contacts. Fan out and do a visual sweep of the outpost; I'm forwarding coordinates to section leads now. Report back to me once the sweep is complete, and we'll establish a standard CAP over the LZ. Black Cat, Kisseus, switch to long-range sensors and turn on thermographic, tell me if you spot any heat signatures once we're in range."

Matto unlocks a switch safety and clicks the switch over, unlocking a keyboard to tap in a few commands into systems before locking it again and maneuvering to the Kitten's flank.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem mutters, "One thousand, fifty-three more people." Then falls silent.

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Spider, Rabbit. Copy that."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Black Cat copies, Spider."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem adds, "Copy that, Spider. Rebound and Dash continuing sweep."

[Wolf-10: Hale] Rabbit keeps a good hold on his stick, as the is rattled and thumped all the way in. Oh this part never seems pleasant at all. Eyes are remaining focused on the Horizon and DRADIS respectively. He sees nothing, so he is moving to get ready to establish his CAP run, once over the LZ.

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Littleboy copies. Spider, I just thought of somethin'. It's possible, very possible, that these atmo conditions are gonna be kinda dampenin' the DRADIS a little. Recommend all units maintain visual scanning."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Gods rest their souls…"

[TAC3] "Kissybear" Matto says, "Black Cat, Kissybear, I copy. n your six in two… one. Spider, Kissybear copies."

[Wolf-11: Martin] Letting Rebound respond for them, Dash has never been known to screw around with his flying during an Op. His antics are usually over the wireless. Without a word, but a click on his wireless to signal he's received, he pulls back on the stick and heads off with Rebound towards their corner of the sweep. Eyes scanning and listening for his DRADIS, he breathes slowly, narrowing his eyes to peer through the hellish atmo.

[Wolf-6: Ferris] Littleboy follows suit after Rabbit, his plane coming up on his left side and prepping for the initial CAP run. As he does, the pilot keeps an eye on the DRADIS… but more on the sky around himself. He's a little self-conscious of this, to be perfectly honest.

[Wolf-12: Samantha] Samantha's eyes remain tightly peeled on the surface for whatever she can or cannot see through the nasty atmosphere. She removes one hand from her Viper's controls, though, making a small gesture of prayer for those below. There had been a hope of survivors… now she just prays, very quietly, not over the coms.

<FS3> Komnenos rolls Ecm: Good Success.

[Wolf-5: Willem] No stranger to Atmospheric ops, Wil's head bounces around a little in the cockpit as Littleboy reminded. Yes, DRADIS is checked but visual takes precedence. In the gravity and atmospheric pressure of this alien sky, his Viper continues its sweep in a slight, orderly descent.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Dash, Rebound. Mk. 1 Eyeball is out and scanning. All clear so far. Littleboy's right on the proverbial money here."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris can be heard muttering, "It's like flying in a bowl of soup…"

[Wolf-3: Kai] As the wing descends below thick, slate grey cloud cover, the extent of the destruction on the ground becomes apparent. Any hopes of the outpost having survived the holocaust forgotten and intact are.. dashed. While clearly not nuked from orbit (there's no crater in the ground), the network of interconnected buildings has been ravaged, quite simply. The fact that it's visible from the air, lends gravity to the severity of the situation.

A few auxiliary buildings have been bombed to pieces, neon signage sputtering dimly in the heavy rain, like macabre beacons amongst the twisted metal. The upside, if there is one, is that the planned landing zone appears to be clear. And the tylium tanks and adjoining refinery complex themselves look unscathed. There are two heavy raiders parked on a narrow swath of road adjoining the complex. So much for getting here first.

[TAC3] (from "Littleboy" Ferris) .. Good Gods.

Matto looks back to his backseater, just a glance, "I toggled you over to the long-range power cell, so you should be set for those scans when we get into range."

[Wolf-11: Martin] Getting a look at the colony through the soupy clouds, Dash shakes his head from left to right. Far on their sweep, he leaves the colony alone to start scanning the sky. Inside of the soup, they're sitting ducks if anything is moving up there. He doesn't speculate, he simply keeps moving. The sooner this is over the better in his opinion.

"DRADIS contacts," Thorn announces suddenly. He stiffens as a cluster of anomalous signatures appear on his screen. "Thermal signatures. Twenty to thirty marks, all in the northernmost building."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. Picked up some heat signatures on the ground. The northern building. We can't get an accurate count yet."

[Wolf-6: Ferris] Amen t'that. Littleboy also gives a little sigh and a small exclaimation over the tac-net. As he continues to go along, following after Rabbit, he continues along…

"Looks like pea soup out there," Sunshine comments idly. Not much else to do, at any rate. Whatever had captured her attention on her weapon is gone and she's looking up and towards the cockpit canopy.

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Black Cat, Thorn. I confirm thermal signatures. I make the count between twenty and thirty."

"Everyone taken their anti-rads," Epi asks, rather tongue in cheek.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem snaps into the comms, "Everywhere we go. Frak. One thousand, Fifty three-" He repeats this number and trails off. "Spider, Rebound. You seeing this? Two fat bogeys."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "It looks like they're mostly clustered in the northeast corner of the building."

[Into the Wireless] Komnenos says, "It looks like they're mostly clustered in the northeast corner of the building."

[Wolf-5: Willem] Wil's mouth twists a bit behind the transparent sheath of his helmet as he descends, scanning the wreckage below.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Understood, Littleboy. Eyes sharp, Vigilantes. We've got two bandits on the ground, do not engage, repeat, do not engage. They're too close to the fuel tanks."

Matto doesn't burden the comm with more chatter, since Thorn's gone on to give the pertinent information. "… human?" he has to ask, though he does it off-comm.

Dutch looks back towards Epi for a second as he leans his head back. A shake of his head and he's closing his eyes. Touchdown is never fun. "Check your party favors, kids. No one likes it if you crash the party without favors.."

[TAC3] (from "Dash" Martin) ..they would do that, wouldn't they? Frak…

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Spider, Rabbit. Copy"

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Spider, Littleboy. Copy. … This is horrible…"

[Wolf-12: Samantha] Case is quiet over the coms, prayer's finished, but she doesn't need to repeat the annoyance of what those damned little bogeys are offering and it seems she's out of witty comebacks. it's not the time. So she watches, waiting for orders, hovering there in formation.

Matto isn't anywhere close to touching down, since he hasn't gotten the green light from the viper escort yet. They're still hanging back, and Kissy's doing his best not to let the expressions of dismay, shock, and horror from the vipers get to him, at this point.

"Wouldn't pick them up on infrared otherwise," is Thorn's only response. He's in tunnel vision mode now, hunched over his DRADIS screen, eyes only for his sensor readings.

[Wolf-6: Ferris] Littleboy's own remarks can reflect how he feels as the flyby goes along it's route. A small waggle of the wings toward the wingman's plane, and then silence, otherwise.

[Foxbat-4: Legacy] Foxbat-4 is still hanging back until cleared by the Vipers. It's a holding pattern - for now.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Black Cat, Spider, you're free to take them down. Proceed with caution. We've got orders to secure the tylium first, survivors second. Vigilantes, pull back and establish a patrol over the LZ. Pattern gamma."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem displays the language of a kid who was taught from an early age that guns and explosives were not play-toys. "Spider, Rebound. Copy that. Do not engage. I'm careful."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Copy, sir. Keep the guns at home and eyes peeled."

Blake is quiet, maybe the quiet hum of the Raptor's engine has lulled him off to sleep, or maybe he's not to keen on witnessing the sights of destruction.

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Black Cat copy, Spider. Kissy, let's get in, get out and go home. Setting down at site A. Make sure your Marines are ready."

[TAC3] "Kissybear" Matto says, "Black Cat, Kissybear, right behind you."

Thea's Foxbat comes in for a landing, nice and easy. Someone's playing it safe, for once. Definitely not her usual style. As soon as the Foxbat is down, the doors open and engines are shut down. Apparently she was -serious- about get down, get stuff, get out.

Acid rain strikes the rocky ground nearly sideways, rattling signage and loose siding from torn-up buildings noisily. It makes conversation in the two raptors difficult; it's really pounding out there. So far, nothing in sight of the LZ. No hostiles, no survivors running toward them with open arms.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Spider, Rebound. Nothing but noxious clouds and dust. Skies are clear."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Rebound. Black Cat, keep me updated down there."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Copy, Spider. We're down, preparing to disembark now."

Matto sets Seven down in the most convenient of half-a-dozen standard landing site formations behind and to the side of Four. As he lands, he calms himself by reckoning back to his days in the ICTC, talking back to his passengers in what migh be a pre-recorded voice, "Touching down on Solon II, local time is oh-eight-fifty-five hours, local weather conditions are… total crap." The landing is as gentle as it is routine, and after a command or two the hatch begins to open as the Raptor is sent into safety idle.

When the bird touches down, Blake's fingers fumble with the latch releasing his harness. No, there's not apt to be many green trees here, so he's lacking a little enthusiasm. Of course he's going to let the Marines go out that hatch first.

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Littleboy, Rebound. Looks quiet on mine and Rabbit's end of the LZ… other than our obvious friends."

As the Raptor touches down, Komnenos turns in his seat, reaching for his service pistol, checking that it's loaded and ready for action. (It is.) He stays seated, though, staying out of the way and allowing the Marines to disembark.

As the Hatch is opening Dutch is amongst the first to get his ass unstrapped and is standing right there, so that when it is right open, he's coming right out of the Raptor First. Sergeant protocols, you get to stand in the stinging rain and wait, while people collect Tylium. "Alright sisters, lets go." grumbled out, as down to the surface he goes. Gun, is locked, and loaded. Ready to roll.

Epi's right behind Dutch, weapon at the ready, armor on, and face set into a comfortably professional mein. "Sure thing, Mom," she replies to Dutch. "Careful, your yard dogs are wandering again." Someone's learning the fine art of sarcasm.

Ashe actually isn't bantering, he looks completely business as he moves to follow the others with is rifle.

Thea doesn't waste time. She skims through the rain toward Dutch and lifts her voice to be heard. "Your squad goes in first. We'll be back here until you give the all clear." No, she's not shouting, she's just trying to be heard.

[TAC3] (from "Dash" Martin) A click sounds from Dash's wireless, checking in as he resumes his patrol with Rebound.

"We know the drill." barked back towards the pilot, before he's looking on ahead. There's a faint grunt before he is nodding to his team. A motion made with his hand for them to spread out, as he begins to head on in to make sure everyting is all clear. A whistle-hopefully caught in all this mess. That's Dutch for :MOVE OUT

Matto has, as noted before, a particular aversion to firearms. He's pretty sure his is still at his side where he left it— it wouldn't do him the bit of kindness involved in the act of disappearing, would it? He looks back toward Thorn while the Marines unload, finally climbing on out that way, himself, stopping and standing by the backseat station. "Trigger finger getting itchy already?" he wonders with a warm smile.

It's unpleasant out there, to say the least. Stinging rain, black skies, the marines better have searchlights or they aren't going to be able to see two feet in front of them. Somwhere ahead to the east, the corrugated siding of a little 'community' grocery store is rattling and banging noisily as wind whips through it. The outpost's been built to survive the harsh climate down here, but apparently wasn't built to survive a cylon attack, intact. Beyond the grocery store, and past a cluster of utilitarian housing units, lies the refinery complex. Beyond that, the tanks and the grounded raiders.

Epi's right behind Dutch, apparently well used to his command style. Her weapon's out and ready - and it's very likely the safety's off.

Jules is on her feet as the ship lands and does her best impression of an ant… following in a line, that is. She does use the time moving her feet to snatch her all weather poncho out of one of her pockets and tug it over her head. The hell with getting acid rained on, dude. Clear of the bird and given a signal by Dutch, she starts moving forward, using what she can for cover.

As the Marines disembark, Thorn sighs. His head darts towards Kissy; Komnenos heaves himself into the copilot's seat up front. "Not exactly," he replies. "This is just th' part I hate most about these kinds of missions. The bloody waiting." He punches up the copilot's DRADIS display, and no matter where he's looking, his eyes flick back to it every few seconds.

Pvt Parts hops off the rickety ride, gear secured and weapon ready. His helmet is strapped on tight, just the way he rolls. Yeah, baby. If he could have fuzzy dice strapped to his rifle, he would.

Matto leans one hand on the side of the hatch and peers out after the departing marines. He's still in full suit, so the acidity doesn't bother him. "Poppyflower and I would bring a triad deck."

The Raptor Captain makes her way back to the gathered medical/engineering/Raptor folks. "I want you all facing out," she tells them. "Stay in the shelter of the birds, but keep your eyes peeled. Thorn, I want you running scans. We won't be able to pick up Centurions on the ground, but it'll keep us aware of anything else coming to visit. Get as much information as you can about the area to take back." She's got her weapon out and ready.

"You ever get that feeling that you're underpaid for what you do?" Ashe asks towards Sunshine as he moves with the rest of the Marines off the Raptor, sweeping his rifle around.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "I take it back. This waiting is worst than a quiet CAp."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem breaks wireless silence with a couple tuneful notes hummed and suddenly, one could guess he realized his thumb was on the transmit button. "Hey Littleboy. Feel good to be back in Atmo?"

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Any time in the cockpit is time well spent."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. Marines deployed. Other than that, this rain's for shit."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris crackles slightly. The weather's playing Hells on the avionics, apparently. "Feels good, Rebound. Feels real good." As the Raptor on the ground chimes in, he falls silent, listening to the report…

Ponchos being on would be good, as would the small lights attached to the rifles be smart to have on. Dutch however is taking time to flick his on and off after a slight flicker, before he's moving on further. There's a grunt, as even with the frakking ponchos this shit still does get you and it still does sting. "Welcome to the shit.." muttered as he is making a motion "Alright lets beat it ot there, and pick up the hump up a click, and we should be in the right direction.." If not? Well we're frakked anyway. And so Dutch is a leadin.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Black Cat. Let me know the instant your boys spot anything on DRADIS, and we'll be on it like white on rice."

"Understood, Captain," Thorn calls out through the hatch. An apologetic shrug to Kissy, and he returns to his rear console. "I'd probably be too keyed up t' play a good game anyway," he tells Matto as he begins running DRADIS sweeps of the area.

<FS3> Dutch rolls Reactive: Good Success.

Matto is already following his Captain's instructions, keeping his eyes peeled but staying inside the Foxbat. He acknowledges the command in any case, since it's good policy so to do, but then returns to addressing Thorn, even if he's not facing him. "Heh. All you need is to get dealt full colors once and you'll forget all about the marines out there." Hyperbole, of course.

As the floodlights are switched on, they illuminate a fairly grisly sight: rain hammers the street that the marines have moved out along, and sluices over bodies literally stacked in heaps. They obviously did not fall that way. Dutch, being at the head of the little entourage, has the dubious honour of nearly pitching facefirst into one of them.

"Frak me!" comes the exclamation as he figures out what the hell he almost slipped into, due to the rain making it shit for his boots. A grunt and he's scrambling up and back, before he's raising his hand to hold for a moment. There's a survey of the piles of stacked bodies. A deep breath and Dutch is making the motion to move on, though he's a bit more careful as he side steps the corpses he nearly face planted into.

Epi…really isn't happy to see the corpses. Even less happy to see Dutch nearly do a facer in one of them. "Looks like our welcoming committee got tired of waiting," she mutters. Black humor. Gotta love it.

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris begins to hum a small tune… seemingly unaware for a moment of the wireless. Sort of, if one were to pay attention, slightly Leonis-esque sounding. Something rock-related? The humming continues for a second before an abrupt -CLICK.- Apparently, Littleboy realized he was transmitting.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Awe… Go on, Littleboy. Thorn isn't here to serenade us. Unless Rebound over there wants to give us another chorus. Or start reciting theatre. Give us a monologue, rebound!"

There's an audible snort from the back of the Raptor. "You know me too well," replies Thorn drolly. "Probably just as well no one brought a deck, then." Silence takes hold for a minute or two as Anton runs several scans. "Sensors still clear, in case anyone was wondering."

"Tidy frakkin' death monsters," Parts comments, mostly under his breath. He almost steps on a… what is that, a finger? "… Stinky, but effective." Despite is stone cold demeanor, the private has a moment of the heebies. He staves off the jeebies by pure holiness of his awesome.

<FS3> Epi rolls Alertness: Success.
<FS3> Dutch rolls Alertness: Success.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem coughs and dryly crackles over the comms, "Oh, that would be inappropriate. And Littleboy, you're taking after the wrong guy." A pause. "For what it's worth, you were doing good out there. Glad we picked you up, man."

"Lords bless 'em." Ashe mutters, even though he's very much not religious. Breathing comes at a minimum as he shuffles along.

<FS3> Ashe rolls Alertness: Great Success.
<FS3> Komnenos rolls Alertness: Good Success.
<FS3> Legacy rolls Alertness: Success.
<FS3> Matto rolls Alertness: Success.

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Rebound, Littleboy… Just doin' my job, el-tee. What's a pilot worth if he can't keep the toasters from baking his wingman?"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Rebound's right, though… Yer damned impressive, Littleboy. Good to see fresh hands… good hands… in the squad."

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Even if they are little girl's hands. You see those things? Like a dishwashing soap commercial…"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "I think they are very elegant, Dash. He's not some barbarian like someone else in the mornings."

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Hey, Littleboy, … you want some candy?"

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "I tolerate it."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Mamma told me not to take candy from strangers."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "And they don't get much stranger than Fingers."

"Oh, hell and frak," Kisseus pronounces quietly. No, he's never actually heard that sound, in person, but there's no less both recognition and some modicum of open dread in his voice. But he takes a few deep breaths. This is what the Marines are trained to take care of. Everything is fine. Nothing is broken.

Legacy's voice is quiet. "Get behind cover and prepare to fire if something happens to the Marines," she tells her group of ducklings - even as she moves for cover. "Fast."

Pvt Parts flips his rifle up and tugs it against his shoulder, other hand gripping the body of the weapon as he skirts his fellow marines to take a position to the right. He raises a little medallion from inside his armor, kisses it, then squints, and tracks his shiny shiny target. "Come and get some, chrome dome. Parts got a little somethin' for ya."

Thorn hears it too; an involuntary chill runs up his spine. He, at least, has heard that sound several times before, and even has the wounds to associate it with. Out comes the pistol, and Komnenos moves to the hatch of the Raptor, but doesn't leave the ship. He blanches at the grisly sight of stacked corpses.

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Oh yes they do. It could be Rebound. He wears clown makeup to bed."

At the sound of approaching Marines, there's a motion made by Dutch, a can't of his head, eastwards, before he's looking back over towards Ashe. Again motion is made as the order comes along "Firing positions.." Unlike the tin heads The marines will be slightly in the disadvantage here. Movement to the right as he is taking a kneeling position just a little bit in front of parts, but staying out of the man's rifle sights..hopefully. "Let em rip when they come into range!"

The littlest Marine isn't dumb. She knows that sound and she gets herself behind some cover, shouldering her weapon. The sound of Epi's safety clicking off is likely the loudest sound in the world to her right now.

Ashe flicks his safety off and lifts his rifle up to take aim at the approaching sound of Centurions. "Every frakin' time." He grumbles as he rolls his neck a bit and slips his finger to the rifle trigger.

[TAC3] (from "Littleboy" Ferris) .. Good to know, Dash. Good to know. 'Specially considerin' I sleep under him.

Nothing like getting a welcome wagon of three giant, seven-foot tall metal deathbots, when all you wanted was a little tylium. Not one hundred feet away, their approach undoubtedly masked by the pelting rain and siding from ruined buildings being battered about by the wind, a trio of centurions are approaching. And fast. They don't waste time with a how do you do; they simply open fire, cannons blazing white hot in the lamplit dark, covering the swath of street in a spray of machinegun fire. The raptors, at the moment, are far enough back to be out of immediate harm's way. For now.

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Tell me someone's recording this conversation."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "CIC probably is. But considering how bad the atmo conditions are, it's high likely that we ain't gettin' the signal out of the troposphere."

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Come on, baby. I'm not a stranger. Let mama give you some sugar."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "You are sad, sad little people. Black Cat, anything to report yet?"

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "All in good fun, Boss. And… well, Fingers. Ahrm."

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Aw, don't rain on my parade, Sugar Daddy. Only funnin' the newbie."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem coughs. "Oh. I believe -all- these conversations are logged. But we'll leave that clown makeup story alone." He seems embarassed. Like that actually -did- happen. A bit tense too, his heart's not in it by the sound of it.

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Spider, this is Thorn. Marine recon has encountered three Centurions."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris shuts up, promptly, hearing the update from below, and there's another click.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Thorn. Do you require backup?"

Gun. That thing. Even Kisseus gets his sidearm out at this point, trying his best not to drop it, though his hand's seeming to fumble along numbly and at its own pace as he watches the cannons flare up across the compound. He stays at the hatch. Which is rather a good deal of cover in and of itself.

<FS3> Komnenos rolls Alertness: Terrible Failure.
<FS3> Ashe rolls Alertness-20: Bad Failure.
<FS3> Matto rolls Alertness: Success.
<FS3> Nike rolls 5: Success.
<FS3> Dutch rolls Alertness -20: Terrible Failure.
<FS3> Nemesis rolls Alertness-20: Success.

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Spider, Thorn… that might be advisable — wait a second… Hey, Spider, those heat signatures from the building are on the move."

The Bullets keep ripping and as his target goes down there's a shift as bullets ping right over him and into Parts "Marine Hit!" Dutch chomps out before he is turning to return fire to the remaining Centurion he can see.

Ashe watches his targetted shot go awry but not bad enough to matter. He swings his rifle towards the last remaining metal target and depresses the trigger in a quick burst while calling out towards Dutch, "Securing last Centurion."

Bullets spit and rip through metal noisily, while others ping off it and pepper the road. A few corpses get riddled with stray gunfire as well, and one store window explodes noisily in the wake of the centurions' indiscriminate death-dealing. Somewhere in all that rain and blood and mess, a couple of centurions go down with a heavy crash.

Matto stays at the door, finally tearing his eyes away from the conflict over the pile of dead bodies. A fortunately timed bit of cowardice, it turns out. "Crap."

[TAC3] "Kissybear" Matto says, "We've got another Centurion coming in from… the southeast."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Thorn. Rebound, I want you to send word back to Kharon that we require marine reinforcements. Our comms might not be able to break through the atmosphere, so bring it on up if you need to. Dash, go along with him. Let me know the instant you spot anything on DRADIS."

Pvt Parts grunts as his armor is sprayed with a few rounds, one taking him in the chest, one in the belly. The second is more serious, but he keeps his feet, ignoring the pain and pushing through to pepper his target with a few rounds of his own. He grunts out, through clenched teeth, "That all you got, pussy machines? Come to me, my little circuit boards." Rar, gnash. "Oh hell no you did not try to sneak up on my SWEET RIDE, boy!" The Parts bellows, and then turns to advance on the raptor, or rather something beyond the raptor. He pulls out wide, weapon raised.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Rest of us maintain position, sir?"

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Affirmative, Case."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem crackles a bit. His voice -almost- sounds disappointed but he responds swiftly. "Spider, Rebound. Copy that. R T B to Kharon." A pause. "C'mon, Dash. Race you?"

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Spider, Dash. Acknowledged. Enroute."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Spider, Thorn. Thermal signatures closing from the northwest. I read ten marks, distance 500 feet."

The Parts, as he is now known, scoots in an arc, firing as he runs. Blood trickles down his body, inside his armor, and the Centurion currently firing on him misses, probably due to the fact that he runs like a spooked chicken at a rave, but into fire instead of away from it. And that's chicken as in the bird, not chicken as in yella. (Yella as in belly, get hip to the hillbilly slang, yo.) "Oooorah!" calls the marine as he sprays his target with a mess of rounds, only one of which really penetrates, plugging the seven foot tall robot with a solid tummy ache. If it, you know, had a tummy.

As Ashe (and others, but really it's all Ashe) pull down Cent2, he begins to move towards where the new target is emerging. Watching Parts tear off towards the Centurion, Swift drops to a knee and lines up his shots carefully, pulling the bead on the metal to try and knock it off the attack on Parts.

And another one bites the dust. There's another crash as the third centurion hits the road in a sputter of gunfire that manages to accomplish all of nothing. Before the group has a chance to catch their breaths, another toaster is moving in from the south, though is briefly more interested in the raptors, than the marines. Big mistake. Parts clips it in the midsection, and it pivots around quickly, and opens fire.

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Kharon Actual, Dash, boarding party requests marine reinforcements at LZ Alpha, Dash and Rebound providing escort, over?"

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Spider, Thorn, do you copy? I say again, thermal signatures approaching from the northwest. Approximately ten marks, now within 400 feet of our position."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos mutters, "Bloody frakkin' radio.. can't cut through this *mumble mumble* soup…

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem presumably, several minutes later, crackles over the comms. "Kharon Actual. Rebound. Requ-." He falls silent, as Dash beats him to the punch. "Repeat what Dash said. Yeah."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Dash, this is Kharon…did I read you correctly? LZ Alpha requires marine reinforcements?"

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Thorn. Keep our marines apprised of the situation. What's the status down there?"

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Contacts pinpointed at 200 feet from our position. Are those… searchlights?"

<FS3> Epi rolls Alertness: Bad Failure.
<FS3> Komnenos rolls Alertness: Success.
<FS3> Legacy rolls Alertness: Bad Failure.
<FS3> Nemesis rolls Alertness: Success.
<FS3> Matto rolls Alertness: Terrible Failure.
<FS3> Ashe rolls Alertness: Good Success.

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris can't help but mutter, "Sounds like it's gettin' pretty hot down there…"

Oh, yeah. Sneaky wanna-be Cent goes down like the, "Dirt bag!" he is. Parts is feeling his oats. No, that would be the adrenal rush caused by the trauma to his body. Flyin' high, Pvt Parts scans the area for more hostiles. His body resists the brunt of the pain for the moment. "We got incoming… unclear on disposition!"

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Kharon Actual, Dash, boarding party requests marine reinforcements at LZ Alpha, Dash and Rebound providing escort, over"

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Kharon Actual, Rebound. That's correct. We'll watchdog them on the way back."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Spider, Thorn. Centurions are down."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Kharon here, understood, will comply. A Raptor with Marine reinforcements is being dispatched to your position, please acknowledge."

"We need to get Sarge back to the Raptors," Epi calls. Well, everyone else is a private around these parts, it would seem. "Sunshine, Dover - each of you get an arm. Swift, Parts, you're with me on the incoming."

[TAC3] (from "Thorn" Komnenos) “.. I have made visual contact with unknowns. They're… human. Or… so it appears, at any rate.”

And Dutch, like the bullet magnet he sometimes is, goes down in a messy splatter of blood. He's a tough kid, he's still alive. But he's in Bad Shape.

Matto is still trying to peer at the remnants of the battle near the piled up bodies. As Thornytoes reports having spotted the survivors, his attention jets to his backseater, first, then in the direction he's facing.

Ashe glances over in Dutch's vicinity before grunting and turning to look at Epi. A slight nod of his head and he is moving forward towards where the new incomings are arriving from.

Thea's on the ground, hopefully getting the information that Thorn is, now that he's taken over her position. "Matto with me, we'll cover them getting the wounded back." She breaks cover and starts forward, keeping an eye out.

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Spider, Littleboy… Sir, I've got a serious hunch here."

The sound of boots pounding pavement is almost, though not entirely, drowned out by the rain. A shout or two goes up from the group, confirming they are indeed human and not deathbot, flashlights bobbing and weaving erratically as they sprint along the road. At least one or two of them are packing guns: a pistol, and what looks like a hunting rifle. None of them are military.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "What's that, Littleboy?"

Matto is doing what, now? Following Kitten, evidently. His legs follow her orders before his brain's even quite done processing them, heading down the ramp and into the acidic mud with the Captain.
[TAC3] (from "Dash" Martin) Through the fog of the atmosphere, Dash sends a signal back to Spider. "ider, Dash- forcemen in—-over?"

Ahhh, yes. Epi. Someone's kid sister in Marine gear. She does, however, have a hell of a voice on her. "Hands where we can see them. Colonial Marine Corps. Please identify yourselves." Yes, she's shouting back. "Put your weapons down."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Dash, Spider. Reinforcements inbound, acknowledged. I think they've got things under control down there, but a few more guns won't hurt."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Spider, Littleboy… Sir, I've got a sinkin' feelin' in our gut our little party's been -made,- and that's why we've got Centurions knockin' on the Marine's doors. On my first pass over, I spotted what looked like a radio tower about a mile or less away from the landing zone, bearing zero-seven-zero. I'd like to get down to Nap of the Earth and take a peek around that tower, sir…"

Parts nods to Epi, and hoofs it over to a flanking position, out of the direct line of the other marines should a firing solution be required. He watches over the incoming stoically, weapon raised, but finger off of the trigger.

Identify yourselves, not like they can prove it. Ashe ponders this for a moment while he stands there, rifle up and at the ready looking towards the gorup that are human.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Littleboy. Thorn, are you getting a signal coming out of that tower, and can you jam it for us?"

The thudding of booted feet on pavement comes to a grinding halt, and about a dozen sets of hands go up in near-unison. Well, eight to be precise. There are a few children clinging to what can only be assumed as their parents. Civilians, all of them, rain streaked and mud spattered, some sporting visible injuries and bloodstained bandaging. Several of them look like they work the mine shafts here, others look like housewives or shop owners. All of them are bedraggled. The rifle clatters to the ground a moment later, but the young woman with the pistol looks really damned reluctant to part with her gun. She grips it hard, and grits her teeth harder, though keeps it pointing at the ground.

"..the marines.."

"Colonial troops, thank the gods!"

A few more whispers and murmurs go up amongst the crowd, and one woman keels over onto her knees and simply begins.. crying. In the rain. With bodies and broken deathbots strewn carelessly like abandoned toys.

<FS3> Komnenos rolls Ecm: Success.

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Affirmative on both counts, Spider."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Littleboy, Spider. You're authorised to do a quick buzz of the tower."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Acknowledged, Spider. Wish me luck, folks."

Epi's voice is still has that note to it as she addresses the gathered. "Are there any more of you," she asks, gesturing with her rifle. "Come on, folks. Don't stop now. Head back toward the Raptors." Oh, look. Two giant metal birds are on the ground, just waiting to eat unsuspecting villagers. "We'll have the conversation out of the rain. Are there injured or Cylons in there?" She nods to the refinery.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "You got someone going on your tail, Littleboy? Should we get him a wingman for the buzz, Spider?"

Thea heads forward, covering the two dragging Dutch back to safety. She holsters her weapon and takes the arm Jules had so that Jules can head back to the other Marines. See? Raptor pilots are good for something.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Negative, Case. Maintain your patrol. Black Cat, what's the situation on the ground?"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Copy, Spider."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. We've got one seriously injured and it looks like the Marines have found some civilians. We need another Raptor down here ASAP."

Parts approaches the young woman with the weapon, staying out of the line of his fellows. "Ma'am, we will have to take your weapon if you'd like a ride up to out nice climate controlled, corpse and toaster free sweet ride in the sky." He gestures with his rifle. "Or you can stay here with the dead souls. I suggest the ride. We got showers and warm food, and a gods damned library."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem crackles a little less now as he gets closer to the planet. "Spider, -bound. Package inbound. Repeat, rein—s inbound. ETA two minutes. Hang in there, Cat."

Ashe keeps his hands on his rifle, but not up and aiming at present. His attention is over the group with a wary yet concerned expression.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Black Cat. What's the status of our tylium? Command's informed me that our priority is tranfering fuel, not people."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Once the Marines clear it, Spider, we'll go for the tylium. Kind of hampered down here by the squadron leader getting shot. I repeat, as soon as they clear it, we'll start loading."

Matto is useful. When it comes to flying Raptors. Still he keeps with the wounded, and with his Captain. Fortunately they don't seem to need much protection from anything.

Thorn can't help but peer curiously out of the hatch towards the ragged group of civilians. It isn't a long look, though, and after a moment, his eyes are once again locked on his DRADIS screens. The personnel on the ground seem to have things in hand for the moment.

The young woman, with a little coaxing from Parts, gradually lowers her pistol and gives a big *sniff* to clear rainwater and snot from her nose. She nods once or twice at him, and lets the weapon slip slowly out of her hand until it clatters onto the ground. One of the men answers Epi, "We've got injured back at the control hub-" He points in the direction they came, the complex to the north. "No clue what the situation is in the refinery. Those metal frakkers took the whole damned thing over."

Epi nods to the man then gestures the group back toward the Raptors. By this point, Sunshine is likely nearby, so she gets to play escort for civilians. "Any more inside," she asks the man, just as she starts to jog away. "Swift, take point with Parts. We just need to get to the tylium."

Swift nods his head and begins to move towards the Refinery looking over at Parts. "If it's overran, we'll have to be on our toes."

[TAC3] "Littleboy" Ferris says, "Tally-ho! Spider, Littleboy. I've got SOMEthing down here on the top of this radio tower's bunker. It could be a DRADIS array, Boss."

[TAC3] "Dash" Martin says, "Dradis array? So we could be getting jammed right now?"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Frak, maybe it's not the atmosphere…"

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Dash, Rebound. I was just thinking the -saaame- thing. I'm keeping a lookout. -ANYTHING- that looks shiny and metal and in flight that isn't screaming Colonial sigs pops up, be ready."
