CEC Kharon, Hangar Deck, Ready Room
IC Time: Post Holocaust Day #37
OOC Time: Mon May 25 20:05:10 2009

The soft glow of white lights overhead cast pervasive illumination across the battleship gray walls and dark, trodden carpet floor. An aisle divides the chairs, bolted to risers, into two sections. The plush black leather and padding of each chair is well worn from years of use, adding an edge of comfort to the otherwise business ready room. A pull down screen and a digital projection unit are available for footage viewing.

There are three desks at the rear of the room, and stacks of technical manuals and tactical guides set into shelving behind them. Cabinets sit to one side of the desks, and a rack of deep green flight suits, helmets, and misc. gear can be found on the other. One section of the wall near the front, kept clear of clutter, is a wooden wall-plate that goes nearly floor to ceiling.

Kai is standing at the front of the room near the podium, just finishing hanging up a wireless receiver, and notably lacking in any notes to read off of. Or pockets to dig his hands uncomfortably into. Yay for flight suit. He checks his watch absently as pilots start filing in.

Fingers shows up in record time as the call goes out for pilots. She was just across the hall in the Sims, playing pewpew shootout with some digital bandits. Fancy that, already dressed. She reaches up to pull her hair into a tail, and drops into a seat in one of the rows. With a cup of coffee in hand.

Thea is standing not too far from the other side of the podium, hands folded in front of her, looking horridly, horribly official.

Yeah, damn flight suits. Roubani has to fold his arms in order to keep them handily out of the way. Joining the other pilots in the ready room, he finds a seat in the Ensign Zone. Which is to say, the back.

Samantha is a few minutes sluggish, for the sheer fact she had to pull herself into her flight suit before coming, apparently ready for the mission even if she wasn't supposed to be on CAP. She's ready for action, damned ready. She's keeping her right hand slightly out of sight, really not wanting to be called off this mission because her knuckles are bruised. She's ready to work, any of the previous anger gone from her eyes and all business on her face.

See no evil, hear no evil. Kai is too absorbed, probably, in the discomfort of giving a briefing to notice Samantha's bruised up knuckles. Advantage? Passi. He clears his throat lightly once everyone seems mostly in place, and cuts a quick glance across to Legacy as if for solidarity before beginning. "All right, we've pulled you all in here, as we've got some unique orders from the CAG tonight. As you may or may not be aware, Kharon's been deploying long-range buoys to key locations in our route through this region, since we've got very little information from existing fleet databases on cylon activity, not to mention planetary compositions out here. Unfortunately, two of those buoys have stopped transmitting. Captain Legacy will be taking out a team of engineers to see if they can figure out why, escorted by Lieutenant Passi, Lieutenant Black, Ensign Roubani and myself." He pauses a moment, not quite meeting anyone's eyes at any point during his 'speech'. "I'd say this should be straightforward, but I'm pretty sure that's a great way to get proven wrong. I know it's not the best job, but it's what I'm asking you to do. And I get cranky when I don't get my way. Questions?"

Jupiter shifts in her seat a little, bringing the coffee to her lips to take a sip. It's cold, room temperature. It's been sitting around for a while. She poured it right before she started messing around across the hall, which was… hours ago. She glances across the seats toward her fellow pilots to see if anyone's going to rustle up a query. She remains absolutely silent.

The advantage of being an Ensign? You've never had a taste of the 'best jobs', so you don't know what you're missing. Roubani just seems to store this information into whatever folder in his head gets activated during brasstalk sessions. No questions, apparently.

Thea listens to Kai, though it's clear that this is information she already knows. Oddly enough, though, she's busy studying the gathered pilots curiously, as if looking for something. For whatever reason, Roubani seems to be a target.

Samantha seems not at all surprised, nodding slowly. She raises her left hand, clearly having some sort of question about the mission. Not that Samantha Passi could ever…for once, be quiet.

Kai keeps his arms folded across his chest, and upnods toward Samantha. "Shoot, Passi."

Ok, mostly silent. Siiip. Jupes lightly sips her coffee. Good thing she's not a slurper. It might attract attention. Stealth mode, engage.

Roubani is frequently a target, albeit mostly behind his back. He doesn't really seem to notice Thea looking at him, as he's watching the back of Sam's chair.

Samantha clears her throat, sitting up a bit straighter. "We going to be reassigned wingmen or women since we ain't workin' with our usual rotation? And, if so… whom with who?" Sam asks flatly, still business like. She's ready to work, it seems.

Kai nearly smiles at the question. Nearly. "I was getting to that, once we got rolling. You'll be flying section lead with Black. I'll take Roubani. Black, I can hear you drinking that from here. Finish it off or throw it out. Any more questions?"

Jupiter coughs when coffee goes down the wrong way. Oh gods, not meant for inhalation. Sweet, sweet lung pain. Cough, cough, hack. Her eyes water, and she slumps a little in her seat. It happens before Kai asks her about the coffee. It happens right around the wing assignments.

Samantha nods curtly, "Yes, sir." And she falls quiet again, not doing anything in return to Jupiter's coughing but lofting a single eye brow almost curiously. She doesn't turn around to look at the woman, she just holds quiet and respectful, waiting for the end of the briefing.

Roubani rests his back against the chair, folding his arms again. His eyes flicker to Jupiter, then to Kai, then to some point where the projection screen would be, if it had been down.

Legacy glances over to Jupiter, then back to Kai, a brow swooping upward delicately.

Kai looks slantwise to Legacy, to see whether she has anything to add. Which she doesn't appear to, aside from that swept brow. A lesser man might smile or look smug; he just looks rather matter-of-fact about all this. "All right. Dismissed. Let's roll." The rest of the non-involved pilots start grabbing their pens and notebooks and filing out to the tune of noisy boots on deck plating.

Roubani unfolds out of his seat, giving the collar zipper of his flightsuit an absent tug to secure it. Being near the back has another advantage - lets you be one of the first ones out. Eat that, higher ranks.

It only takes a few good hacks to clear her airways of coffee, and Jupes straightens in her seat, reaching up with one hand to wipe her eyes. She clears her throat, then shoots a look at Kai. It's just a flick of the eyes to him, then she tips back her coffee and drains the mug. She yanks her gloves out of a little thigh pocket on her flight suit, and gets to her feet. Her expression betrays nothing. She'll trail out behind the others.

Samantha stands up, heading straight for the flight deck. She gives Jupiter a half smile, "Ready for this, Fingers?" Is all she says as she leads the way back out onto the deck and begins to tug her gloves on, if carefully, from where they were resting in her helmet. She manages not to wince as she drags the material across her knuckles. Just brusing. It's not that bad.

Thea dips her head once, to Kai, and settles in at the back of the line like a mother duck herding her little ducklings along in front of her across the road.

Kai has already turned away, by the time Jupiter shoots him that look. He's fetching his own gloves and helmet, which were set aside on the podium itself. Once grabbed, he's filing off after Legacy.

"They haven't invented something I'm not ready for, Case." Jupiter replies, without missing a beat.

Samantha nods curtly to the woman, "Sounds good." And then heads out.

CEC Kharon, Hangar Deck, Hangar Bay #1
IC Time: Post Holocaust Day #37
OOC Time: Mon May 25 20:36:35 2009

There's activity here at almost every hour of the day. Impact guns can be heard with their shrieking rumble while crew call back and forth, their voices carrying just above the din of the work here. What's readily apparent is that this is the main Hangar Bay for the Vipers, the distance going back further than the other two Bays which are separated by thick, hydraulically rolled blast doors. On each side of the room, near the Fore end, six Viper tubes are ready for quick deployment of the Kharon's Viper squadron. Lining the rest of Hangar Bay One, each Mark Two and Mark Seven has its own place to be kept with a small red toolchest that holds the minimum of required equipment for quick maintenance.

Along the floor, each individual Viper bay is painted off with a single hashed yellow and black stripe. A deep red line denotes important electrical conduits and access ports just below the deck while a bright blue line follows up walls and across the floor to tell where the Tylium lines run in case of fire. Outlets along the wall for the fuel as well as corrugated rubber piping stand ready for use, fluorescent yellow firefighting gear kept in plain sight for easy access nearby.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Samantha swings into her Viper, nodding to the deck crew as she's finally securing her helmet and quickly begins going over the routine checks to make certain that her bird is ready to go…

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Thea does much like Samantha. There's a pre-flight check of the outside of her bird, then she moves inside, taking care of those pre-flight checks as well. She glances back at her passenger and grins. "Ready to go up, Petty Officer? I'll try to keep the fancy flying to a minimum."

[Wolf-1: Kai] Suit zipped, helmet on, checklist checked, Kai's up the ladder and settling into his fighter with a crisp efficiency borne of having done this routine for over a decade. The canopy's brought down as he finishes off pre-flight, and a few deck hands hook him up for a tow.

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Pre-flight done in efficient time, Roubani settles into his seat and gets his helmet on. Click. His small band of prayer beads is around his wrist as they always are when he flies, and the deck hands get his bird in position ready to follow Kai's.

[Foxbat-1: Nine] Nine keeps quiet in her corner of the Foxbat. A couple of crates have been hauled aboard and secured into place with all manner of potentially needful thing, and Nine's strapped in among them. She looks almost apologetically to the pilot as she arrives. "Yes, Sir," she replies quietly and tersely to the Captain, lowering her eyes again.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "All points, standard patrol pattern gamma when you leave the tubes, form up on your wingman."

[TAC3] "Poet" Roubani says, "Copy, lead."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Ready to go, Lead."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Foxbat lead ready to go."

[TAC4] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Green across the board, ready on your go."

[Wolf-1: Kai] Looks like Kai's the first to be loaded up, and jettisoned out. His viper is locked onto its railings, and as soon as the boards are green, the bird is gone with a hiss and a rattle.

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Wolf-7 is in the tubes somewhere after Wolf-1, burners glowing blue for a few seconds once the metallic bird has cleared the Kharon. The extra burst of speed brings the Viper into the intended wing pattern, steady near Kai's 4.

[Wolf-1: Kai] Nope, nothing spectacular out here. There's space, and more space. Stars off in the distance, and the slowly diminishing hulk of the Kharon spinning slowly away as the pilots punch (or drift, in the raptor's case) out.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Fingers, settled in out there?"

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] Fingers' viper sweeps free of the tubes, zooming out into space. The viper executes a brief barrel roll before leveling out right side up and puttering around a bit before forming up in a more traditional position. Everybody needs a little stretch when they first exit the gate.

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Case, Fingers. I brought my porn and everything."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. I'm showing two bouys about one point five clicks to starbord. They're flashing and my ECO is working on trying to figure out what's wrong with them. I'm taking us in a little closer."

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Case steamlines out into space, her mouth not actually running off over the comm any more, but for anyone who has flown with her before this is not a surprise. While on duty, she's utterly professional, quickly falling into formation behind the lead and watching all her monitors. (repose in right room)

[Wolf-1: Kai] Kai is out like a shot just a fraction ahead of Roubani. He's not difficult to follow, as he's fairly steady on the stick. At least, when he isn't showing off. Once he sights the raptor, he swoops in nearer to take her three o'clock.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Black Cat. We're just here to watch your ass. Lead the way."

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Ass watching. Finally something I excel at."

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Followparty! Roubani keeps up with Kai, proper position on clock, proper distance. Textbook wingman flying for now.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "I'm with Fingers in this one. Best mission ever."

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Thea's bird wings off slightly to Starbord, sailing quietly along in the blackness of space.

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Roubani has a lot of mouthsoap to use up after this.

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "My ass is not for public viewing. Though if one of you saves it, I might reconsider that statement."

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Copy that, Black Cat. Mission parameters updated."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Oo… Black Cat lays down a challenge. And a very nice prize."

[Wolf-1: Kai] Kai's silent over the comms for now, while the other pilots banter about. He hasn't called a halt to it yet, so he must not care.

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. We've got a signal, but it's not on Colonial band. Keep your eyes peeled. Having the ECO check to see if it matches anything we know."

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Roubani hasn't said a word either, but that's nothing new. His eyes keep watch around the area and his and Kai's Vipers. Legayc's announcement over the comm make one dark brow loft.

[Wolf-1: Kai] The buoys are easily visible now, flickering somewhat erratically in an overlapping strobe pattern. DRADIS, other than the two contacts, seems quiet. Almost… too quiet.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Case falls dead quiet now that the mention of a signal has started, no more even light joking over the comms. She keeps in formation, but her eyes are tightly peeled to the DRADIS now..

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] The viper carrying the older Lieutenant Black flies in what you might call subdued fashion. For Fingers, the flying is downright tame. But she's on a wing, and that makes it slow going.

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Foxbat-1 lopes closer to the bouys, on a more direct path than one might expect.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Black Cat. Do we know whether it's cylon?"

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. I'm going in. We have to pull them aboard. We can't tell from here. The engineer has to take them apart to figure out what's going on. I've got the word "bait" going through my head, and not the "jail" variety."

[Wolf-1: Kai] Kai's viper inverts with a smooth tumble to starboard, coming up under the raptor's belly so he can keep an eye on things from a different angle. There's a quick glance of helmeted head over shoulder, as if to ensure his wingman is still where he should be.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Permission to shift formation to protect Black Cat's ass a bit more… widely, sir? I gotta agree, this smells like trap."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Black Cat, Spider. I'm inclined to agree with Case. Try to get it inside without.. tripping anything. Does your engineer have anything to say about it?"

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Roubani is certainly where he should be. You expected anything less? The frown on his face isn't particularly visible through the 'windshield' and his helmet, but it's there.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Case doesn't exactly -break- formation, but she stretches it a bit, there not many of them out here and she's trying to encompass Black Cat's large Raptor a bit better than the initial flying formation. She's got her eyes all on DRADIS now, trusting it before she does looking out the windows, especially with her eyes.

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] Fingers, on the other hand, is more inclined to use her eyes rather than DRADIS. She follows up a little loosely abaft Case, and slightly to starboard.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Permission granted, Case."

[Wolf-4: Samantha] When Sam gets permission to break formation, she actually does swing out pretty much to Black Cat's opposite side and face the opposite direction of Kai, so she and (hopefully) her wingwoman have the top and rear section of Black Cat's craft covered, while Kai has the bottom and starboard sections…

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy sighs softly. "Chances of a trap are roughly ninety-five percent, Spider. It looks like I'm going to have to run in and get them while you all hold off anything that jumps us."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "We should give heads up to the ship, prepare for a jump as soon as we all get home."

[Wolf-7: Roubani] ooc Kai? I'm kind of lost. I thought they brought the buoy on already

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "No hope of disabling it remotely? Does your engineer have the passcodes?"

[TAC3] "Poet" Roubani softly clears his throat. "Lead, if we suspect these to be enemy beacons, they would very well do more harm being carried around with us than anything else."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Yeah. Can't we just… kill it dead? Though… if we can debug whatever is on it… it could also give valuable tactical information, sirs."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. My engineer has OUR passcodes, but not any passcodes that might have been put on them. I concur with Poet here. Gut instict tells me it's time to blow them to hell, cut our losses, and get out of dodge."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "*after a pause* Agreed, Black Cat. All right, do you want to back off and let us handle this?"

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy's voice comes back, low and quiet. "Black Cat to all vipers, I just saw something blip on DRADIS, but then it was gone. Confirm? Foxbat Lead breaking away from target.

[Wolf-7: Roubani] ;'s eyes flicker to his DRADIS screen. Somehow the Ensign just doesn't seem at all surprised at this news.

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Thea's bird begins to slow as, yes, she starts breaking away from the target. She doesn't roll out, not with Kai's viper under her belly. She waits - for now.

[TAC3] "Poet" Roubani says, "Black Cat, Poet. Confirm on movement."

[Wolf-1: Kai] Kai's viper fires its afterburners and drops away as Legacy starts to move, anticipating her break away. He starts around so he can form up with Poet again.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Aye, I saw it too, bosses. We got somethin' there."

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Roubani also throws it into reverse, as it were, backing off the Raptor and arcing up to get back into place with Kai. A little wider from the other Viper's wing, in alert mode.

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] Fingers has a massive case of fail to notice. There's a light or something blinking on her instrument panel. She gives it a thump.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Case slightly pulls back, keeping protectively close to the Raptor, but preparing for a fight also.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Black Cat, Spider, I saw something too. Bearing roughly… one zero three, four niner, confirm?"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Confirm, lead. We should give actual heads up about jump prep. And destroy this thing and go ourselves. We ain't even got a full CAP out here right now. … Just recommendations."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Case. Black Cat, can you send the data on those buoys back to Kharon, let them know to put alert five on standby."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. Pulling back and showing seven jump signatures on Dradis. Transmitting information to Kharon with the recommendation that Alert Five goes on standby and they prepare to jump when we get home."

[TAC3] "Poet" Roubani mutters, uncharacteristically. "Bugger."

[Wolf-1: Kai] The DRADIS signatures are holding now. Seven of them, all happy little cylon raiders. They're fanning out to try to surround the overstrength CAP, steady red pings on pilots' consoles.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Here we go, boys and girls. Orders to destroy the thing and go, or just get back to home, lead?"

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Case, Spider. Weapons free. That goes for all of you. Engage at will."

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Oh hell. Roubani flips a couple switches - a few more than he used to have to before they dumbed down the Viper AI - and something on his undercarriage goes nicely hot and blue. He swivels the stick, ready to back up Kai's target choice.

[TAC3] (from "Fingers" Jupiter) There's a slight crackle over the comms before Fingers' voice comes over with a slight tinny distortion common to the ship to ship comms, "I hope you put on your dancing shoes. Company's coming to dinner. Chest out, shoulders back, ladies." You can almost hear the crinkle of a magazine being tossed aside. Almost.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Case flicks another few switches also, quite glad she spent most of the weekend studying up on the programming from the Mark VI's, or she might be up a shit creek without a paddle. Her undercarriage goes hot only a few seconds after Roubani's, ready to fire on the bouy as ordered.

[Wolf-1: Kai] One more glance to his wingman, then Kai is throttling the stick and swooping out to take lead as the raptor pulls back to 'safe' distance. There isn't time to pick and choose dance partners; the cylon fighters are already lighting up the black with tracerfire and preparing to make the squadron eat lead.

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Thea's Raptor pulls back to a safer range, away from the Vipers, yet close enough to where her ECO can work on the whole idea of happy fun jamming of the Raiders.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Case, Fingers, take out those buoys for me first, would you? And no cracks about my *there's a grunt as he pulls a few Gs* junk."

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Spider, Fingers. Roger. Will not address your assets, sir."

[TAC3] "Poet" Roubani comments, blandly, "So long as it isn't rusty, sir."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Aye, lead. Opening fire now."

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] OOC: Yeah, that doesn't work for a Raptor.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] OOC: the bouy isn't listed, so can we just do a normal roll for that?

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Roubani follows lead, verily. Whatever enemy Kai decides to make toast, he's got the butter.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Case opens fire on the bouy, spraying it hopefully to quick pieces so she can get to work on the real enemies.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Samantha, as ordered, keeps her guns on the bouyies until they are all destroyed. She swears as she sees her wingman taking a hit…

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Shit, Fingers, you doin' okay back there?"

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Roubani grits his teeth as the Raiders swarm on them, and try a pretty damned good divide and conquer swoop. He fires on the one that goes blazing closest to Kai, missing it in the sudden storm of activity as he tries to keep position between the raptor and as many raiders as he can.

[Wolf-1: Kai] Kai, too, takes a hit across his tail as three of the little bastards decide he'd make a nice snack. He kills his thrusters in a hard break turn, trying to lose one of them as he comes back up to fire on Legacy's bandit again.

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Thea keeps her Raptor as far out of the fray as she can, very different from her usual style of fighting. Oh, she's flying, yes, but she's also working on suppressing some of the bandits.

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Spider, Black Cat. I'm working on the one that's on you. Focus fire on the ones I suppress."

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] The mojo of Finger's targetting is completely thrown off by her viper being peppered with body shots. The damage isn't enough to rattle her too badly, but with Fingers you can never tell. Her flying is still pretty level, but there is, at the very least, some body damage going on there.

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Frak. Must be my new perfume… everybody's on my six this week. Clean up, could you, Case? I'll be right with you."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Got it, Fingers. Take care of yourself."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Negative, Black Cat. You've still got one on your tail— I'll get him off you first, before worrying about my own fans."

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] Fingers is usually a pretty easygoing pilot, but at this point she's annoyed at the constant fire up her ass. She reverses thrust, flips her viper with a hard and fast maneuver, rolls, and comes up in direct line of fire of the raider in pursuit of her. Ah, so. Dogfight chicken.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Bouyies down, lead. I got your back, Fingers."

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Roubani again misses the target Kai's pinned on, the raider trailing Legacy's raptor. No time to worry too much about it. Keeping Kai's viper in the corner of his viewport, he gives his bird a burst of speed, trying to distract the enemy fighter's guns as much with a moving body as with his own weapons. Since the latter are doing precious little.

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy growls quietly. Yes, she growls. Apparently she's aptly named. "Spider, Black Cat. I'd suggest, after you're finished attacking the one that's on me, that we coordinate our efforts. If I suppress them, you can kill them. I'm targeted on the one that's on Spider's six, if anyone else wants to focus fire."

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Thea flies carefully, moving herself away from the one attacking her, aiming for the one that's on Kai's six.

[Wolf-1: Kai] And again with the missing. Kai yanks his bird into a corkscrew, guns lighting up as he spirals in on the bandit Roubani's trying to make chase him— even as said bandit opens up on the raptor again. Die, damn you.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Copy, Black Cat. I'll manage for now. Could you focus on Fingers' tail instead? He seems to have it in for her."

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Case swirls around, now having finished with the damned bouy, and she's doing her best to get a lock on the Raider that's on her wingman now.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Samantha does some actually rather fancy flying, dodging out of every bit of fire that's come her way so far. She continues to fire on the craft that is on Jupiter's tail, just trying to get it off of her wingmate's back to give Jupiter some breathing room.

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] Fingers trades fire with the incoming raider, both swapping a few rounds to the body. Now she's got matching stripes of damage down her cockpit. Heck yeah, it's Deck service time on this particular bird. The ships strafe each other, taking a piece out of the other with fire.

[TAC3] (from "Fingers" Jupiter) The mutter from Fingers comes over the comms, "Come back here, asshole."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "The one by us is taking some hits, you still want us to switch to the bird you're on, lead, or should we finish this one? Fingers, how you doin' in there?"

[Wolf-1: Kai] That's just gotta be annoying. Kai's shots go completely wide as the raider jukes out of the way, and then spins around to bear down on Roubani instead. At least the raptor's being left alone. Undaunted, Kai strafes in hard to pour more shots into the bandit who's now on his wingman. You want some of that, do you?

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Legacy's Raptor manages to avoid getting hit again while the pilot and ECO work on suppressing the Raiders. No pew pew, sadly.

[TAC3] (from "Fingers" Jupiter) Fingers adds on a little reply for Case's benefit. "Blue skies." Uh.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "Just guard your wingman, Case. Though Poet and I might need a little help here- *grunt* -in a moment."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy grumbles quietly. "Copy that, Spider. Black Cat working on suppressing the one attempting to fly up Poet's ass."

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Roubani mutters as one of the raiders grazes his paint. He is, however, slightly mollified by the hit he dishes to the one chasing Legacy, which rips into the shiny metallic body and sends some bits flying off. It's enough to piss the thing off, apparently, as he sees it start careening after him instead. His hand slams the throttle, leading it the hell away from the Raptor.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Gimmie one more minute, we'll take this bastard out and be over there to save the day too!"

[TAC3] "Poet" Roubani says, "Spider, changing targets to your tail. Those things have it in for you worse than they do me."

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Case's grin can practically be heard over the com as she fires again on the one on Jupiter's buttocks, just reeming the thing happily… She shakes a bit, taking a touch of damage herself this time, but it's just a scrape and she's biting back -hard-.

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Thea's Raptor twists and spins as she refocuses on the one on Kai. Roubani's has been chased away for the moment, and now she's going to protect the Viper Lead.

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Roubani's Viper takes a hard shudder from the hits but he dodges the other two trying to chomp his fins. His guns shift to one of the raiders following Kai's much more badly damaged viper.

[Wolf-1: Kai] Kai pours yet more cannonfire into the raider, clipping an edge here or a tailfin there, but nothing that seems to stick. He's going for a gutshot, but the damage to his engines is making it increasingly difficult to maneuver. It's right about time for a trick or two up his sleeve. Maybe.

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] Welcome to miss land. Maybe Finger's viper is carrying a little more damage than previously thought. The viper comes around to target that tough bastard again, and waits for the right moment to squeeze off some shots. No one mind the damage along either side of the viper.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Frakking…fraker…hate this new…old…System. Hold fast, Fingers… Just need another minute!"

[TAC3] (from "Fingers" Jupiter) There's a grunt over comms, "Gonna need more coffee, Case." A pause follows as Fingers smacks some buttons. "Gonna need a lot more coffee." Less cursing, more mauevering.

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] At least Fingers dodges this incoming fire. A hard pull on the stick takes the viper into another barrel roll. Sadly her return fire also misses, angling off past the raider and into the black of space.

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Poet, Black Cat. Hold on, Poet. I'm coming in. Get clear. Spider, can you tag the one on Poet's six, see if you can distract it while Poet pulls away?"

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Thea's Raptor pulls out and starts to roll toward the space between Poet and the Raider trying to kill Poet.

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Son of a bitch. One of the raiders is still flailing around back there like a beached whale, but the other two mean business. Roubani lines up his shot on Kai's trail right in time to get slammed to hell by a shot on his engine that sends his entire body forward straight into the dash. It barely registers past the moment it takes for him to suck breath back in, his hand still on the fire button.

[TAC3] "Poet" Roubani says, "Dammit…Black Cat, doesn't that buoy have a "repel" button?"

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "*there's a growl into the comm* Copy, Black Cat. Poet, get the frak out of here and head back to base immediately, you're spitting smoke like a chimney. Case, Fingers, cover his ass like glue."

[Wolf-1: Kai] Kai manages to slip the raider that's on him with a tricky bit of flying involving a corkscrew turn and a few extra Gs that probably didn't feel too good. Then he's laying into Roubani's bandit like white on rice out of the merge.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Case takes one last glancing shot at the Raider which was on her Wingman's ass, and then manages to dodge the shots in her direction as she quickly whips in the direction of Roubani and his persuers. She refocuses her guns on the Raider which seems to have done a hell of a lot of damage to him, swearing loudly…

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Enemy on Fingers' ass is down. Good teamwork, fingers… Roubani, can you still read? We've got your back now…"

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy curses quietly, though fluently. "Poet, Black Cat. Poet, do you read? Hang in there, coming in to pull you out. Spider, Black Cat. I'm going in for the tow."

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] A volley of fire from Fingers' guns finally rips into the raider in an already weakened area, sending the bastard in two different directions, pieces spinnin out of control. Her viper sails through the place the raider used to occupy, and turns to re-assess the field of fire.

[TAC3] (from "Fingers" Jupiter) The coms crackle and Fingers' voice comes over them, "Splash one, eat it cylon!" Taking it in the face was really putting a damper on her day. "Case, Fingers. On your six. Light 'em up."

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Thea swings her Raptor back around toward Roubani's crippled bird, quietly ordering the tow ropes prepared by her ECO. There's a certain quiet calm to her voice, an almost deadly calm.

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Without working engines it's quite difficult to get a good shot. It is also equally difficult to head back to base. Roubani slams his hand down on the auxiliary thruster switch, and they do their damndest to start revving up while smoking. There's even a light struggling to come on on the dash as they power up, just enough to take Roubani out of the way of one of the raiders…only to be blinsided by another. And when we say blindsided? The gunfire rips into the damaged Viper's midsection like a wrecking ball, shearing the vessel like it was made of paper. Something explodes from the side, sending a gasp of particles and a large shower of sparks that immediately vanish in the airless vacuum. What it may have done to the person inside, who knows. The comm is silent.

[Wolf-1: Kai] By this point, Kai's hopes of hitting anything with one engine out and sputtering, and the compensation from the other threatening to send him into a tailspin, is probably roughly on par with scoring a beer and payperview in his cockpit. Gritting his teeth, he adjusts something on a panel above his head and pours in the burn for another run at Roubani's bandit, as it spins away from the Ensign whom it blindsided.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Alright, Lead…Black Cat…you all wanna get yourselves back to the ship… Fingers and I will run cover…"

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Kharon CIC, Black Cat. Coming in with one seriously wounded and unresponsive. I want medical on standby in Hangar Bay 1. Spider, I'm taking Poet home and will be back out once he's down."

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "*long stretch of static* -the frak home- *static*"

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] The lone Raptor is over to the downed Viper fairly quickly, truth be told, tow ropes deployed to latch on. Then, quite simply, Thea bugs the hell out with the damaged Viper in tow - going as fast as is safe, and probably a tiny bit faster.

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Legacy's raptor could've thrown on a hula skirt and done the shimmy shimmy pop in front of him, and Roubani wouldn't have noticed. Which is for the better, really. There's nothing but silence from his comm, not even crackling.

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "On your five, Case. If anything tries to get through, we'll beat the shit out of it."

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] Fingers takes turns with Case unloading on a fast maneuvering raider, though most of the JGs smack into the underbelly as the raider rolls. She turns to pursue, with Case, the raider as it stubbornly remains on Spider's tail.

[Wolf-1: Kai] With his comms all but out, Kai seems to give up on getting messages across, and lets the Lieutenant handle things from that end for now. He, meanwhile, is determined — almost beyond reason — to protect his wingmates' retreat. He's still got one good cannon and an engine that'll work if he fumbles around in the guts of his half-exposed console, and it seems to be good enough.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Sam blinks as she watches her wingman take out another bird. She gives a little howl of approval and cheering, even if her own shot was dodged, and then turns her guns on one of the few left…

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "Splash 2. Spider, your six is clear. Case, I have this tingling feeling between my shoulderblades. Looks like there's a stalker on my six. You mind following up on Spider while I play footsie with my suitor?"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Hellll yea, watch those Fingers fly! I got it, Fingers. You be safe."

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] A sharp maneuver, with a lot of thrust behind it, brings the viper around to an intercept trajectory. A panel flies off the viper with the move, perhaps a little too harsh for the damage it's sustained. Hm. Maybe nobody saw that…

[Wolf-1: Kai] Okay, Kai's intention was less to hit, and more to present a big flashing target on that last pass. Which is a moderate success, as Jupiter takes out his bandit just as it's trying — and failing — to line up a shot on him. His helmeted head cranks around again for about the fifth time, trying to spot whether Legacy and her precious cargo are home safe yet.

[Wolf-7: Roubani] Wolf-7 is long gone with the raptor, towed along like a peaceful little boat. With half its side missing.

[Foxbat-1: Legacy] Thea's Raptor is, as was stated, long gone, towing its precious cargo home.

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] Fingers lights a fire and puts the pedal to the metal in pursuit of the raider targeting Case. If that woman gets blown to shit in combat, Boner will whine. The only thing worse than Boner is Boner crying about all the missed sexual encounters. At least that's one theory. Maybe the elder Black is just pissed off about Poet going down in combat. Yeah, second though, it's probably the latter one.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Samantha's shots just miss, but they're still missing. She's quiet on the comm now, knowing her objective and determined to complete it as she puts one last bit of oomph into the shots she's taking..

[Wolf-1: Kai] Without comms to direct the squadron, Kai relies on visual clues and cues instead. Like the little flap of his right wing that tells Jupiter he's going to try to slip in on her bandit and sandwich it from the starboard side. The stick is so unresponsive, he may as well be flying through molasses at this point. Though it's fairly safe to say, Roubani going down has given him new vigour. His guns light up again, and again.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Case remains mostly quiet, at least hitting this time, she's bearing down on the last Raider out there, the one that fired on her, since it seems the one on her wingman's ass has been taken out…

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Frak it, Sir, what are you doing still fighting! You're almost as damaged as Poet. Get back. You two, Fingers, and that's an ORDER. I'll keep our backs while we're going in!"

[TAC3] (from "Fingers" Jupiter) Fingers replies, "My return trajectory is going to put me right in line, Case. RTB and fire are imminent, without alteration." That's a fancy way of saying the fruit stand is on the way home, so I'll grab an orange and run. Where fruit stand means raider and grabbing oranges really means raining down fiery death. Unless she misses. Then it's more of a pretty light show.

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] There's some serious damage happening here. Fingers has still got pretty good command of the controls, but the integrity of the hull is questionable. The instrument panel is lit up in several places. The maneuverability seems mostly ok, aside from a bit of ah, ahem, crack in the visor, and several electrical problems in the cockpit. Oh wait, there goes Dradis. We didn't need that anyway.

[Wolf-1: Kai] Yeah, good luck trying to order your superior officer around there, Case. Spider's doing no such thing. With one raider left, and the Kharon probably already spooling up its FTL behind them, he pours whatever he's got left into the fighter chasing Samantha. Anger management, much? He doesn't even seem aware of the bandit he and Jupiter splashed. At all. Once it's blown to smithereens, his battered bird is pivoted and honed in on its new target.

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] The raider meets with the fire of three pretty grouchy viper jocks, and blows apart like a pinata at a forty year old biker's backyard BBQ. Fingers happily takes a chunk out of its body with volley. The viper promptly kicks in the burn to RTB.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] In Sam's defense, it wasn't so much ordering as a very… emphatic expression of concern! Either way, with three combined blows from two angry women and a pissed off lead, the Raider does go down in fire… She cheers quietly in her cock pit, still lingering back, waiting for the more damaged birds to get inside…

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "There we go. Hells yeah. Now can we go back home? I'll watch our backs, I'm still mostly functional…"

[TAC3] "Fingers" Jupiter says, "You ok there, Captain, or you need a push?"

[Wolf-1: Kai] Yeah. This is gonna be a fun landing. Kai's viper is about as maneuverable as a school bus with two gears and fifty screaming schoolchildren right now. Where screaming schoolchildren is the various alarms going off in his cockpit, and two gears is— make that one. He punts it though, as best he can, with the rest of them.

[TAC3] "Spider" Kai says, "*static* -fine- *more static* -asses back to base."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Aye, sir. Comin' back back home."

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] With some fancy maneuvering, and serious pedal work, Fingers manages to park her viper in combat landing style, though she loses another panel. It probably wasn't important. She skids a couple of times, then comes to a shaky stop, at a 3/4 turn on the deck. Right before Spider makes his landing attempt.

[TAC3] (from "Fingers" Jupiter) There might be a note of mild concern in her voice as Fingers notes, "Spider, you're looking a little hot…"

[Wolf-1: Kai] Spider, of course, loses his engine number two at right about that point. It shears off, ripping a good portion of wing with it, and instead of strafing in for a gentle landing on that moving flight deck— he slams right into Jupiter and deflects off her undercarriage. Talk about dropping the ball. His viper skids to a stop nose-down, with a few deck hands already running in with firehoses. At least Kai knows how to make an entrance.

[Wolf-4: Samantha] Samantha waits for both of them to get their birds safely into the ship, just in case other shit appears, and then she comes in for a smooth landing with her not too damaged bird. No, she didn't down too many out there, but she dodged with the best of them and she's coming home with the least damage of anyone. At least it's one point in the non-combat experienced pilot. She's swearing again as she sees the crash in front of her. If she and Legs are the only pilots to survive this… she'll be certain the gods are dead.

[Wolf-3: Jupiter] Fingers takes it like a champ, no stranger to bumper cars. There's a screeeeeeeeech as her viper's forcibly moved by Spider's, though at least neither of them go flying off the other side of the deck. The strain is too much for the poor thing, and Wolf-3 ends up with a major structural defect… upside down.
