Praxis is on comm duty today. He's sitting at Seriy's station filling in for her, a headset pasted to his head. One console over is of course the nav station, which he gives a glance every so often just to see if Selene is doing all right. As the time quickly approaches when they have to make the jump, it's going to get hard! He makes smalltalk. "How do you fare, Petty Officer?" Despite working with her for a while, he doesn't know her all that well. Not as well as he knows the others.

Selene taps the coordinates into the console, locking in the jump time. She came back from lunch late, and a bit shaken, it would seem. "I'm fine, sir," she lies, turning to scribble some numbers down on paper, perhaps to keep herself occupied.

Praxis murmurs things into his headset, his dulcet tones coming over the radio for a few moments before he's finished talking. But our empathic and stalwart hero does not finish talking with Selene. A head cranes again. "Are you certain? Because if you're having a problem, I can take care of it. Is one of the officers giving you an exceptionally hard time?"

Selene shakes her head firmly. "No sir," she replies, as the equations take form, apparently an emergency jump set for getting away from Scorpia. "Just had a bad conversation over lunch, is all. I'll be fine." Perhaps.

A bad conversation. Now that was more of a personal thing, something that would be strange to ask about in this setting for Praxis. Especially to a person that's not an officer, our prude and proper man not wanting to seem like he's fraternizing. But well, being TACCO there's really no one else for him to relate to (if he ever does such a thing) other than his fellow colleagues. He goes out on a limb to say, "Want to talk about it?"

Selene arcs a brow and peers up at Praxis, snapping, "Someone starts a conversation that, in succession, brings up every portion of my life that I'd rather forget, and you ask if I want to talk about it?" It takes her a moment before she remembers herself, and she ducks her head, squeaking, "Sorry sir."

Well, hours before, she said it wouldn't let it affect her work. But Demitros was able to prod at it enough to make her snap. Hmm. "Well, to be perfectly fair, Miss Daiasu - I was completely oblivious to the fact." he mentions. "The nature of the conversation had completely escaped me; yet I had still taken the risk of showing concern. Not to say I am angry because I understand why you are." A pause. "Apology accepted."

Selene doesn't say anything more after that. She sits quietly, cheeks red, and finishes her calculations, which she stores alongside her console.

Feeling he didn't really get that far, Praxis is slightly discouraged. He feels it would perhaps make her more comfortable to talk about work instead. "We're jumping fairly soon. Once we're there … the mission will be lackluster at best. It's just a reconnaissance, as I had said." Hopefully, Cylons won't show up and blow them all away.

Selene nods a little, checking her watch and chewing on her pen a little as she waits for the jump time. "Hopefully," she replies, peeking at her numbers and whispering a prayer to the lord of the sea that she calculated that right.

[Intercom] Kai says, "Pass the word. All air wing personnel report to the ready room for a mission briefing."

Suddenly, Praxis gets a phone call, the man lifting the handset off of the receiver. He gives Selene a long look as the voice comes over the other end. "Demitros. What? Yes. That's unfortunate. Okay. Thank you." He hangs up the phone and then looks to Daiasu, clearly unhappy. "Change of plans."

Selene frowns a little, not too pleased with it either, and she hasn't even heard yet. "What's up?" she asks, picking up her clipboard with a sigh. Changes of plans tend to mean she has to recalculate with a time crunch.

Praxis shakes his head. "We are not jumping behind the moon; simply into orbit. However, it is not on schedule. The raptors are jumping on ahead to do initial recon while we sit here. Then we are going to engage the FTL and drop our Vipers off so they can do a surface skim." This is not how the tactical meeting went, so he breathes a long sigh. "Easier on you…but it was not part of the plan. It excessively bothers me when the plan is deviated from."

Selene frowns a little as well, beginning to scribble furiously on her pad. "You and me both," she replies. "How much time do I have?"

Praxis taps his chin. "The Air-Wing is conducting a meeting at this particular point in time, but I speculate the Raptors are going to jump out soon after." he explains. "I do not know how long the recon will take…so you're going to have to do this one on-the-fly." Demitros feels her pain. Someone is going to get a fist in the face for this. If Prax, you know, punched people.

Selene scowls and scribbles faster, running her fingers through her hair before scribbling again. If anyone can get this right on such short notice, it's her, but she wouldn't be the one to tell anybody that.

Selene can project the course of the planet, as well as she did this morning. However, the coordinates she calculates are interesting, but wrong. Oblivious to this, Praxis continues to perform his comm duty.

Selene is apparently more than a little frazzled by the sudden change of plans, which is quite apparent when she punches the coordinates into the computer and the computer projects their exit well inside the planet itself. She tears off the sheet in disgust, throwing it at the console, and scribbles again.

It's hard not to stare when Selene starts to mess up. He speculates that the pressure combined with the events of earlier today is starting to affect her work. Standing up from his console, Prax walks over to Navigation and stands on the other side of it, staring Selene right in the eye. Calmly he says, "Relax. Take a long, deep beath. You have time. Take it."

Selene takes a breath and holds it, then shakes her head and goes back to calculating. She still looks a bit frazzled, but this time when she punches the numbers into the computer, it spits out a beautiful projection of a jump directly into the planet's orbit. That is, given the assumption that her projections for the planet were right.

If Praxis had a cookie, he'd give it to Selene. A rare smile finds its way onto his face as he sees the new set of coordinates on the screen. "That is much more like it, Petty Officer Daiasu." he praises, heading back to his console. So the day won't drag her down after all.

Selene isn't as confident, given her screwup on the last check. After all, the computer's numbers all depend on her plotting the planet's drift correctly.

Praxis gets another phone call, chatter chatter chatter, and then suddenly he punches in a few more buttons and starts speaking on the intercom…

[Intercom] Praxis says, "All hands, this is Lieutenant Demitros. The vessel will be going to Condition Two and is going to undergo FTL travel to Scorpia in a few moment's time to deploy Air-Wing forces. I say again, set Condition Two throughout the ship and prepare for faster-than-light travel."
<Intercom> Attention! Set Condition Two throughout the ship.

Praxis then looks to Selene. "Make the jump to the Scorpia system - not quite orbit. Keep us far out of range, we'll make a subsequent jump when we deploy Vipers." That jump should be really really easy to do.
Selene nods and changes the coordinates just a tad, putting them back into the computer and tearing that sheet from her clipboard.

Selene reaches over and picks up the phone near her console, flipping a switch and taking a breath.

[Intercom] Selene says, "Now hear this, prepare for FTL jump in three-zero seconds."

Praxis patiently waits, the man being the epitome of calm as the clock counts down…

Selene holds her breath and grips her console, closing her eyes, this being her least favorite part of her job. The jump always manages to leave her stomach upside down, it feels. "Jump," she whispers, just before the ship flickers.

[Intercom] Selene counts down, "3, 2, 1, jump."

Praxis watches the distortion happen. It's rather unsettling for most people as time as space warble around them, the ship coming out of jumpspace into the Scorpia system. With an approving nod over at the nav station, Demitros jumps into action and starts chatting over his headset.

Praxis adds, "Selene, you know what to do — plan emergency jumps." Operation GTFO.

Selene nods and begins scribbling. She already has coordinates for Operation GTFO, so her first priority is making sure the jump into orbit will go smoothly.

Praxis settles back into the chair. For now, the Kharon is going to remain where it is while the ships carry out their various tasks out in space. Demitros turns eyes to each of the personnel working away, the comm channels quiet for now as the Raptors haven't exactly launched yet. So far, so good.

[STC] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Kharon CIC, Black Cat. Ready for launch on your mark. Foxbat-4 and Foxbat-8 prepared to go out."

[STC] "Knight" Praxis says, "Foxbats Four and Eight, this is Kharon. You may depart from the escort carrier. Good hunting from all of us, over."

Selene finishes those calculations and lays them aside, then begins working on the jump calculations for the escape.

[STC] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Black Cat copies, Knight. Keep the coffee warm for us. Foxbat-4 taking off."

[STC] "Madman" Matto says, "CIC, Madman, confirming Foxbat-8 green front and back for launch. Thank you, CIC, Foxbat-8 taking off."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Black Cat, Madman. Prepare to jump to Scorpian orbit on three. Thorn, Crybaby, I want your asses glued to the DRADIS and cameras rolling like you're going to sell the footage to Caprican TV for millions of cubits. We've got good people down there. Countdown to Jump…1…2…JUMP."

Unable to really say or do anything now that the Raptors are out of range, the Praxis on comm duty settles down into his chair and emits a long sigh. "Well, here we are." he mutters, adjusting his headset and his glasses. "ECM, the DRADIS here must be monitored as well. No, the DRADIS does not reside within your coffee, thank you Ensign." A turn of his head. "Daiasu, how's it coming?"

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, we hear you. Jump coordinates confirmed, jumping on your mark."

Selene mutters something about having to redo all of her work, then tears off a final sheet. "We're ready. Again," she replies, tossing the clipboard on the console and turning a little in her seat.

"Yes, yes. I know. I was not happy either." Praxis remarks to words that Selene never said, swiveling a little bit left and right in his seat at the comm station. He's a little bit restless, but at the comm station he feels like he can be a little bit more at ease too. One might recognize that his lips are a bit looser when he's over the channel.

Kai steps into CIC, sans folders this evening. He's in his duty blues, a sure sign he isn't slated for this mission. He moves like a tiger trapped in the confines of a narrow cage. "Lieutenant," he greets Praxis evenly.
Selene gets a nod as he climbs the stairs up to the planning centre, and steps aside so as not to be in the way. Undoubtedly, the CO or XO called him up here, to keep an eye on the mission.

Selene mutters something under her breath before she notices Kai, then hops up out of her chair briefly, before doublechecking her numbers. This is, quite possibly, the most boring part of an operation.

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Madman, Black Cat. I want you to run parallel to me on this one. Make sure your ECO is getting as many pictures as possible. I even want to get some pictures of this debris, lest there's something our folks can use for salvage."

Seeing Kai come in, Praxis quirks a brow, standing up from the console and offering a salute before settling back down. "Good evening, Captain Marek." he mentions, raising his chin. "I must say I was rather surprised when I received a call this evening. With all due respect sir, alterations of the plan in last minute is highly irregular, and even perhaps unprofessional in my opinion. Are you at all knowledgeable about what happened?"

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, I hear you; permission to run four carom south of parallel to get out of the worst of this debris feild? It's navigable, but barely."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Madman, Black Cat. As long as it's clear, permission granted. I want you running safe."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, adjusting course. Yeah, this is much better. Crybaby's reporting no company; most of this debris looks like it's from Raiders, just by eyeballing."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Crybaby, Thorn. Ten cubits t' the first one t' spot a live Raider, what?"

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "Thorn, Crybaby. You're on."

Kai's expression doesn't change, as Praxis addresses him. His eyes flicker from the nearby DRADIS console, to the TACCO. "I'm about as in the dark as you are, Lieutenant. It's Sheridan's prerogative to alter the mission as he sees fit. He mentioned it to me about ten minutes before briefing. I don't think Black Cat's happy with things, either."

Praxis' other brow meets its twin when he mentions that it was Sheridan that altered things at the last minute. For the first time in forever his face finds his hands in slight frustration, shaking his head as he cups his own face. Looking up at Kai subsequently, Demitros readjusts his headset. It gets uncomfortable. "I am inclined to wonder if I am present here just to simply keep me busy. I'm certain he had his reasons and I respect the decision, but there is something -wrong- with that, you know?"
"Oh, by the way, Captain. You recall the challenge of making the difficult jump? Well it would turn out that Petty Officer Daiasu came through for us in that regard."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Damnit. Madman? Did you see the station? Let's mark coordinates so we can come back at some point to see if there's -any- hope. Madman, let's take 'em down. We're going to go in high atmo to get our pictures. Thorn, Crybaby, give me the good stuff. Let's make this clean and fast so we can get our boys on the ground."

"Orders are orders, Lieutenant," the CAG offers somewhat gruffly. It's hard to say, one way or the other, how he feels about them being changed at the last minute. His eyes slide to Selene briefly when she's mentioned, and he smiles faintly. He's not really in charge around here, and he probably has little idea of what goes into plotting a jump. But it seems polite, at the least. "I assume we're ready for the second jump? I have vipers on standby, ready for your mark."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "I'm not always clean, Black Cat, but I can do fast. Going t' make a nice vacation portfolio with all these bloody pictures when we get back home."

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "Roger, Black Cat. Pretty impressive isn't it? Co-ords are recorded for later. Hehe. Thorn, better save some film for is we find a beach, buddy. Got the urge to have a party."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, I saw it. We could plot a high atmo northern hemisphere orbit to pass under the coordinates at which we marked the station on the way. Two birds with one stone, yah?"

Orders are orders. Heh. Someone is starting to get too used to giving them around here. Being the third one up the ladder in CIC is starting to get to his head, maybe. "We are ready, sir." Demitros confirms, listening for word of the Raptor's return however there is none quite yet. He gets up from the station and engages the wireless link on his headset, moving up to the center of the room. He shifts the little cards that are Raptors on the plotting table close up to the representation of Scorpia.

A door from another hallway that leads into CIC opens, as in comes the Weapons officer, his blue duty jacket, being hastily buttoned. "Ensign Butters, report down in the Gallery and relieve Keely, tell him I need him on the portside looking to the flak cannons." Beckett's own voice, quick and cultured, much like his any from a city on his colony. A nod is passed towards the TACCO "Update?" IE has he missed anything?

Kai nods to Praxis, eyes shifting to him briefly, though his mind seems.. elsewhere. Probably on the mission, and the pilots who've already jumped out, beyond where he can reach them. It's got to be frustrating to have to sit and wait like this. Beckett gets a glance when he enters, and a polite, "Lieutenant," in greeting. He'll let Demitros handle the updates, of course.

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Alright folks, let's keep it fairly quiet unless there's an emergency. Standard pattern, Madman. You know the drill, you know where we're going. I'll ping if something's seen or if there's an emergency. You do the same."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, acknowledged."

Praxis looks to the hallway, eyebrows raising as soon as Beckett enters. A nod is returned back to him as the man returns to his station. The Tac officer shakes his head in reply. "Welcome, Beckett. We've jumped to the Scorpia system, far out of range of the planet. A pair of Raptors have jumped closer and are conducting the reconnaissance. As soon as they return, we will be jumping further insystem and deploying vipers for atmospheric fight." A glance to Kai, and then back to Beckett. "No contacts as of yet."

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "Black Cat, Madman, this is Crybaby. I am picking up readings several miles out. Looks like that's our SAM site."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Crybaby, Thorn. Confirmed… just spotted it here, too."

Beckett nods quietly back towards Praxis "Very well. I will have the guns prepped further any second. I'll prepare for a heavy fight, soon enough." the Weapons officer mentions before he is in fact headed right towards his station. Eyes look over towards Kai, and there is a nod back. "Captain." replied politely, as he is reaching for the phone with one hand, and typing out commands into the console with the other. "Ensign Butters.." spoken into the handheld phone which is connected to the Gallery. "I need the following patterns made up now. November Carcom, 13. and Tau, Whisky eight. Thank you."

Kai keeps his hands tucked into his pockets, eyes trained on the weapons officer as he makes his call for the turret adjustments. A breath, a glance back to Praxis, and then the nearest DRADIS console is the subject of his scrutiny. It's utterly blank, which is possibly just more frustrating.

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Madman, Crybaby, Thorn. I have a new DRADIS contact, looks like a Cylon signature, inbound from th' facility."

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "This is Crybaby. We got something…coming from the facility!"

"Excellent, Lieutenant Beckett." Praxis praises with a curt nod. He catches Kai's look at the DRADIS, the TACCO shaking his head and providing his insight, "Perhaps the worst part of this plan is that we cannot keep tabs on our vessels. We do not know what is amiss when something goes amiss." Of course, he probably already knows this. And it's not his job to complain, it's to make sure whatever plan is executed goes swimmingly. "We'll need you especially vigilant when we're further insystem, Beckett."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Thorn, Madman, we see it."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Madman, try to hold on for one more pass. Crybaby, Thorn, I need you two on your toes. We're going in for more readings and anything we missed. One pass, then back out again."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, I'm with you."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "All ships, Thorn… scratch that. New contact is vectoring off t' the east. Looks like he's headed for the airbase."

Beckett nods once towards Demitros, as he finishes getting the guns exactly as he wants them. "When we drop in I will switch to manual control, Lieutenant." A look back towards the others once the receiver is put down. "We'll be ready, Captain." the Weaps offers as a means of encouragement to the CAG.

Kai looks up when Beckett speaks, though his only answer is a soft grunt. The CAG, it seems, is a man of few words. He scratches idly at the bridge of his nose with a thumbnail, then digs his hands back into his trousers pockets and.. waits.

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "Confirmed. It's definitely moving to the east. Hopefully it'll keep heading that way."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Ok, people. Let's get this pass complete. Mark where it was headed and prepare to haul ass out of dodge. I want to get us back to Kharon so we can get the ground recon done."

This part suuucks! Waiting for Raptors to get back and stuff. Maybe we can sing a song. The engines on the Kharon go Zoom zoom zoom? That's preposterous. Praxis continues to listen in on TAC3, from the Kharon's perspective it's just dead air. "Very well, Lieutenant. Navigation, when we jump in, orient the craft so that the majority of our flak cannons are facing the planet."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Marked an' logged, Black Cat."

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "Got the information, Black Cat."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "That's definitely a Raider. I'll be having my ten cubits when we get back t' th' ship, Crybaby."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, acknowledging prepped as hell to scramble mad acts of ass-haulage on your mark."

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "Just because you called it first doesn't mean you neccesarily -saw- it first, Thorn."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Don't play semantics with me, Crybaby. Consider this incentive t' pipe up a little faster next time."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Children? If I have to remind you what radio silence means, there WILL be double PT for two weeks. Madman, on my mark, head back out."

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "Alright, alright. Get with me once we get back, Thorn."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, ready for your mark."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Madman, take her out."

[STC] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Kharon, Black Cat. Two Foxbats coming home, no strays. Prepare to scramble Vipers for the return trip."

[STC] "Knight" Praxis says, "Black Cat, Kharon. Good to see you back - expedite the landing sequence as we're already spooled up and prepared to get underway."

[STC] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Coming in to land then head back out again. Dropping off copies of recon while we're at it. Please have deck crews ready to receive."
[Intercom] Praxis says, "All hands, prepare for FTL travel - we are jumping further insystem. All personnel prepare for jump insystem. Deck crews be ready to receive landing raptor wing. Viper recon teams standby for scramble."

Kai straightens a little when he hears his pilots are back— particularly when Legacy's voice crackles over the comms. He glances toward Praxis, and nods slightly. Let's get dis show on the road!

[STC] "Knight" Praxis says, "Consider it done, Black Cat. Kharon out."

Praxis is busy chatting once the pilot get back, but that doesn't keep him from issuing orders. "Input the coordinates for jump and proceed with FTL travel on my mark." the TACCO clearly states to his underlings. "Beckett, you know what to do."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Madman, get your bird in fast and drop her. Prepare to expedite information transfer. Deck standing by."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, Crybaby's expediting that information as I speak. Landing presently; landed."

[STC] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Kharon, Rabbit. I am showing green for tubes."
The nav officer slides into her seat, and begins tap-tap-tapping at her keyboard, eyes darting to the screen every so often. "FTL coordinates.. prepped, sir." She swivels to face Praxis briefly. "Ready to jump at your mark!"

[Intercom] Praxis says, "FTL jump on my mark. Six, five, four, three, two, one. Jump commencing."

"And we're to manual control." And he's reaching for his own 'stick' as it were. The button for the guns to go live sent down to the gallery, before Beckett is bracing for the jump into possibly hot territory
As the ship blips out, then into existence again, DRADIS shows.. nothing. No angry red dots. Just a haze of destroyed ships and other assorted debris, ringing the massacred colony like a macabre halo.

Praxis does the countdown over the intercom, head swiveling to catch sight of the nav officer once he turns off the headset. "Do it." The two crisp words of the current commanding officer of the CIC are loud and clear, the tactical officer preparing again for the distortion that is a direct result of the ship traveling at a faster than light speed. Back into the dimension of reality again, Demitros eyes the DRADIS display, nodding as it shows a whole bunch of nothing. His voice booms over the icom again.

[STC] "Rebound" Willem says, "Kharon, Rebound. Pre-flight is green across the board and showing ready for launch."

[Intercom] Praxis says, "Jump complete. Vipers report in over STC."

[STC] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Kharon, Rabbit. Pre-flight is green and we're good for tubes. Over."

Kai just stays back, and out of the bustle of CIC while Praxis does his thing. Which is a pretty impressive thing, from a multitasking standpoint. The pilot's silent, face its usual mask of half-curmudgeonly disinterest. Cortez wanted him up here, so he's here. Like it or not.

[STC] "Knight" Praxis says, "Rebound and Rabbit this is Kharon. Clear the tube and proceed."

[STC] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Kharon, Mooner. Green to go, let's rock and roll."

[STC] "Tinman" Castor says, "Kharon, Tinman. I'm seeing nothing but green permision to launch? Over."

[STC] "Case" Samantha says, "Case here, clear across the board and ready to go."

[STC] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Kharon, Rabbit. Copy that."

[STC] "Rebound" Willem says, emphatically, "Kharon, Rebound. Copy. That."

[STC] "Knight" Praxis says, "Mooner, Tinman, Case…you're all clear to launch and regroup upon egress."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, we've got our Marine passengers in place and the data's been handed off to the deck crew. Ready when you are."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Copy Madman. We've got ours. Hold for clearance from CIC."

[STC] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Kharon, Black Cat. We're ready for clearance."

[STC] "Knight" Praxis says, "Black Cat, Kharon. Your skies are currently busy, please stand by."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Alright Vigilantes, Rabbit. I want you to form up on your wings as assigned. And remember we're to cover the Raptors. Lets do our jobs."

[STC] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Copy that, Kharon."

Praxis looks towards the DRADIS for a double check. His ECM officer at the current point in time is nowhere near as vigilant as he is. "Increase sweep granularity focus towards the planet surface." That's not to say don't watch their back, it's just to say to put extra power into seeing if there's anything coming at us from down there. Demitros looks over at Josef for a moment and ensures that he's indeed ready. He doesn't bother to tell him to be careful of hitting our pilots because he knows all about that.

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, holding for clearance."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Rabbit, Black Cat. Prepare to receive coordinates of where we saw a few parties that needed breaking up. We have confirmed on the production facility. If your Vigilantes would be so kind as to take care of the stragglers, we'll knock on the front door."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Rabbit, Rebound. Got you. Escort duty — I'd expect absolutely -nothing- less."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Copy that Madman. So am I. Riders, remember what I said about radio silence once we're back down there. ONLY use the com if you need to sing out or in case of emergency."

[STC] "Knight" Praxis says, "Raptor wing, this is CIC. You are clear to launch and group with viper escort."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Black Cat, Rabbit. Copy that. You open the door and we'll kick around the party crashers. We're ready for you."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Viper wing, Kharon. You are authorized for weapons hot."

[STC] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Copy that, Kharon. Madman, I'm out first, then you get my tail."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Copy that, Kharon. Let's fry"

Beckett remains silent as the 'safety' comes off the ships guns. Nothing said as a few commands are typed in. Rather it seems that the Lieutenant is focused solely on the wellbeing of the Kharon. As such, he ceases to be chatty.

[STC] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Copy that, Kharon. Mooner, weapons hot."

[TAC3] "Tinman" Castor says, "Copy that, Kharon. Over."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Rabbit, Black Cat. Let's take care of the party people before we drop off our own guests. Coordinates should be transferred to you and the rest of the Vigilantes."

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Copy that Rabbit, Rebound I'm forming up on your five o'clock. Give me a wing waggle when I'm in your periphery."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Mooner, Rebound. One moment. One moment. There."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Kharon, Rabbit. Copy that, Weapons are hot."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, I've got your tail, Kitten."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Tinman, you with me? Let's fall in and go, eat up some toasters so we can get a good night's sleep."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Black Cat, Rabbit. Copy that." a pause before Rabbit's words are coming back over.."Okay Vigliantes, Rabbit here. As you see we got some party people on the surface, and that won't do for our own people. Lets cut em to ribbons, an drop off our kids eh?"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Copy, sir."

[TAC3] "Tinman" Castor says, "Roger Case, I've got your back."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "This is Rebound. Copy that, Rabbit. Copy, that….Y' with me, Moon?"

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Thorn, Crybaby, keep your eyes out for friends. I doubt we're going to be popular."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Copy that, Black Cat. Keeping an eye out.

Still nothing on DRADIS. It's almost unnerving, the silence out there. Each sweep of the scanner picks up only the seven friendly signatures.

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "Roger, Black Cat. My eyes will be peeled."

Unnerving is where Praxis comes into his prime. The pseudo commander now stands in the center of the room with his hands folded behind his back, radio chatter crackling in his headset with the words of pilots…friends…comrades. Though he accepts the fact that some of them may not come home. At least this time he wouldn't exactly have himself to blame for that. The collective heartbearts in CIC all thump in unison as everyone is distracted by the seven green blips converging on the planet.

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Oops."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Mooner, you okay back there?"

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Mooner, Rebound. Shit. You allright? Sitrep."

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Purely cosmetic. I didn't like the paint job on this bird anyways."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "All ships, Thorn. New DRADIS contact. Just appeared in orbit… can't get a solid fix, though, unable t' identify."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Copy that, Moon'. Just checking on you. Over."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Thorn, Rabbit. Copy that, Can I get a confirmation on that? Mooner, how're you looking?"

Praxis directs the ECM officer, "See if you can get a fix on that DRADIS contact and ID it."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "All ships, Black Cat, continue on course to target. We encountered a lone toaster earlier."

There's a bleep-bleep from the nav officer's terminal. The Ensign who'd been manning it sits up straighter and pushes her coffee aside, before leaning in to do some checking. "Sir," she addresses Praxis, "I think I might have something here—" She nods, and chews her lip when Demitros speaks. The ECM officer complies with a 'yes, sir', and starts working on acquiring a fix.

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "I got it too…unknown reading."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Rabbit, Thorn confirms. Single contact, still in close orbit with th' planet. Still no ID, though."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "All ships, Rebound. Single Contact. Maybe they're getting silly on us. Weapons are hot, holding formation until confirmation of target. Think it's time to add one more metal corpse to this graveyard, eh? Over."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Rebound, Rabbit. Negative. Stay the course mate. We'll have more to deal with soon enough."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "All ships, Thorn. I've lost contact with bogey. Probably ducked back down under atmo."

Praxis shoots a look to Beckett when the nav officer gets a couple of bleep bleeps. "It would seem as if this trip would not be as lackluster as we had orginally thought, my friend." He speaks to Beckett as an equal because…well, he sort of is. They've been colleagues for long enough, right? "Lock onto and track that unknown contact, Josef." He then looks over to Countermeasures, expecting an answer.

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "I'm not seeing anything either. Keeping my eyes open too. Damn soup of a planet…"

Beckett turns his head to regard the goings on at the ECM's console, but other than that he's focused completely on his own job as it were. When Praxis speaks up, there's a nod. "Aye, Demtrios. I'll stay on her." Which will prove to be tricky as a duck. But, Beckett has always enjoyed a challenge.

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "All ships, we're headed in toward that SAM battery. We're getting close and remember that radio silence, unless necessary, is a damned good thing. Keep the chatter to a minimum. Rabbit, we're closing in."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Rabbit, Rebound. Copy that."

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "It was there but the reading has gone. Repeat, reading has disappeared from DRADIS."
And then Josef adds. "Lieutenant, the Blip's, gone."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, acknowledged."

Praxis frowns slightly. "What was that contact's last known position?" the TACCO asks, continually scanning DRADIS with his eyes. Now that someone's shown up, he can't help but worry about it now.

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Rabbit, Mooner. I'm good to continue. Nothing pinging on my Dradis. Hitting atmo in three…two…one…"

The ECM officer scowls as he obviously takes a wrong turn in his calculations, and ends up having to start over again. He's young, and not terribly experienced with this. He also doesn't spot the blip returning on his console, then vanishing again, he's so deeply entrenched in his work.

Beckett is shaking his head "Couldn't grab the lock. Right as it hit, it vanished completely. No clear reading." the Weaps offers as he keeps his eyes focused on his own DRADIS readings. He doesn't like the sound of this.

He adds, "s-sorry, sir, I've lost it. Coordinates are.. one three seven carom niner."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "There it is… and gone again. Slippery little frak, this one."

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "Seems like we got a dancer on our hands. Keeps popping on and off."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Rabbit, Case. Here come Tinman and I… Going for atmosphere in three…2…one…"

And suddenly, DRADIS goes haywire. A single contact is pinged by the sweep of the scanner. A single contact that isn't a raider. It takes about three seconds for the identification to kick in: basestar.

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "All ships, Thorn, new DRADIS contact! Cylon baseship, bearing two-seven-niner carom three-six-three!"

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem suddenly barks, "Hermes' hands on a…FRAK. Baseship. All ships, This is Rebound, I'm reading a big ugly!"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "The boys said it… Frak me… those things are ugly… Orders, Rabbit?"

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Frak me. Rabbit? Mooner. You seeing what I'm seeing? This isn't just setting another plate at the table. The whole frakking town just came over for supper…."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Baseship is launching Raiders. Repeat, Raiders incoming. Lots of them."

GACK. Demitros can't believe his eyes. A sort of fire ignites within at the word BASESTAR underlining the new DRADIS contact. He picks up the phone and announces something rather unnerving to the entire ship before hanging it back up. "Cylon baseship spotted at one three seven caron niner. Scramble alert fighters, set Condition One throughout the ship. Defend Kharon at all costs." A look at Beckett. "Weapons hot, if they get within range, give it to them." ECM gets a look as well. "Recon team still in atmosphere?"

Kai looks up sharply as a basestar is announced. His eyes cut to Praxis, then to Beckett, then the nearest DRADIS console. His hands clench into fists in his pocket. "Launch alert fighters, Lieutenant." Just a quiet reminder, in case the man's forgotten.'

[Intercom] Praxis says, "Attention all hands! Cylon baseship spotted. Action stations! Scramble alert fighters! Set condition one throughout the ship. Defend Kharon at all costs."
<Intercom> Attention! Action Stations! Set Condition One throughout the ship.

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Mooner, Rabbit. I see em, I see em. We'll protect the Raptprs, follow me on that, Black Cat, Orders? I am thinking, pulling out might prove prudent, over."

"Fraking Shit." comes Josef's own reply as he is quickly moving. "I got em, if they come into close. There's so many of em." And with that, a laugh seems to be leaving Beckett as already the guns are turning to the newest threats to the remainder of life here. "And so the enemy drew back his cloak. Artemis in her wisdom laughed. 'Folly' she cried, as her arrows, blotted out the sun..And the moon." a faint grin as he waits for the closest bit there. Just holding for a little bit. "the sacred moon cried tears of blood.."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Copy that, Rabbit. All ships return to base and prepare for Kharon to jump out."

[STC] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Kharon, Black Cat. Ordering RTB, objective not achieved. Repeat, objective not achieved."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Black Cat, Kharon. Message received and understood. Haste in your return would not go unmissed."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Vigilantes, Rabbit. You heard the Captain, Lets punch it out of here. be prepared to fight our way out, and remember cover the Raptors at all costs."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Return to base?…Hate tuckin' taile to go home, but that sounds just lovely."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Copy, Rabbit… there's no place like home…"

[TAC3] "Tinman" Castor says, "Copy that Rabbit. Wilco."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Rabbit, Rebound. Copy that. C'mon, Moon. Let's punch a hole. A big hole. Gods watch over…"

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, acknowledging— expediting RTB."

Praxis stood there, watching the countless Raiders popping up from the basestar, a long breath being taken in and exhaled. "I hope that FTL drive is prepped and ready, Ensign - or the consequences will be dire." he mentions nonchalantly, eyes narrowed still on that lone word that just says BASESTAR.

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Copy that, Rebound. I've got your tail."

"Acknowledged, sir," the nav officer pipes up after a minute or two. "FTL spooling up in ten."
DRADIS begins to show multiple enemy contacts now, still too far out of range for the Kharon's flak cannons, but converging on the wing. The ship'll need to be turned a bit to be brought to bear, anyway.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Mooner, Rebound. Attack Pattern Constellation. Going to sidle up on this bastard who's hitting our cargo like a drunk frat boy. Just keep an eye on my tail. Hooo boy. I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing paint."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Madman, get out of range of the raiders and let Rabbit's people do their work. Thorn, Crybaby, I want you both jamming for all your worth. Preparing for RTB with SAR if necessary."

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "Roger, Black Cat. Jamming all enemy targets."

"They're still out of range of my damned guns, but we're hot and ready, Lieutenant. " Watching the formation on the DRADIS as he readies his next move "When I need to fire, TACCO, please alert the pilots to duck an cover. I don't want to hit any of our birds." Josef says calmy. Finger, staying on the trigger. Waiting, of course.

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Madman, Rabbit. I'm going to clear the way for you here, so you can pop out. Lets see what we can do here."

Praxis stares at the display, then finally they break off. Navigation is given a rather controversial order. "Bring us just into flak range of the Raiders and maintain distance. Turn on our axis and bring the guns up to face them. Beckett, lay a field where our pilot's aren't and give the Raptors more of a window to return home." Hopefully, that would buy them a little more time. Any protests of the order would have to come now rather than later. "I will tell them, Lieutenant." he replies to Beckett.

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, endeavoring to do so. Rabbit, Madman, thanks, I could use a path, they're all over out this way."

"Aye, sir!" chirps the nav officer, and reaches for the flight controls.

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Copy that, Black Cat. Setting jiggers t' pulse, readying chaff pods and sparrows."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "All fighters, we are bringing Kharon within flak range. I would advise staying out of the way of the big guns and pack it in. Acknowledge immediately."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "We've got your back, Foxbats…just get home safe. We'll see ya back there."

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Copy that, Rebound. I like the tits on that one, let's take her beneath the bleachers."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Black Cat copy, Kharon. Madman, jink aft. I'll go fore."

Kai's shoulders are tense, his jaw is tense, but he's otherwise the picture of calm. "Return to frakking base," he mutters under his breath, though it seems aimed more at the pilots, than at the TACCO. He reaches for the nearest console to brace himself as the ship comes about.

[Intercom] Praxis says, "All hands, this is Demitros. We're bringing the vessel within weapons range of the conflict. Remain at action stations and be prepared for potential damage. Deck crews, be ready to receive combat landings."

A nod as Beckett types in a few more commands "Affirmative Lieutenant. We're ready.." And here we go.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Mooner, Rebound. Yeah, I don't think these girls like me very much. Winged 'er. Let's keep on this thing, see if we can box it in the killzone. Take a downward approach, break on three. I'll break left. Hold to the pattern, we're doing fine."

Once the Kharon moves within range, Praxis turns with his intense jade eyes to Beckett. "Plot firing solution." And, for the first time in his career, he gets to say the one word that has eluded him this whole time, that he hoped he would never have to say. "….Fire."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, keeping aft, continuing to scramble RTB: do you need me to come 'round for SAR?"

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "*crackle*…Ouch…. frakkers…"

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "This is Kharon, we are firing batteries. All craft, RTB."

"Sir!" squeaks the ECM officer, "I'm reading radiological warnings. The base ship is powering up nuclear weapons, sir!"

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Copy Rebound on that new approach. I'm not even getting to second base."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Negative, Madman. Negative. Pull back behind Kharon and continue to suppress. Black Cat will take care of SAR if Case needs it. I'm closer."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "*static* -ill here… Keep *static*… base."

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "All ships, Thorn, radiological alert! Baseship's got bloody nukes!"

"Lieutenant. We have the basestar on us. Permission to fire what I got." And its quick he knows he might not be able to stop a nuke, but he can sure as frak try. Needless to say the offensive batteries are all online as well. "You're call, TACCO." And yes it seems the Weap's officer is barely hesitating.

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Vigilantes Rabbit. Lets move'em. GO, go, go."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, acknowledged, continuing RTB."

Well, this party got just a little bit more interesting. More and more bad news mounting, the news about nukes being armed might actually make Knight sweat. Yes, our fearless leader for the time may actually be scared for once. He rushes up to the ECM console. "I've got a couple of tricks to buy them some more time." Praxis growls, inputting his own little jamming algorithm to try to keep the basestar from firing weapons. If he's learned anything from Persy, it's possbile. "Do it, Beckett!"

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Well, shit and damn, are those two trying to RTB with me, or what? Thanks, Mooner, Rebound."

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Rabbit, wing.I've got a bogey on my arse. Someone shake it off?"

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Madman, Rebound. It's Dead. Dead. Dead. Splash one. Taking the other one. Um. Someone keep an eye out for my lily-white ass so we can get our cargo clear? This is -bad-. They've got nukes. Getting our people out ASAP."

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Madman, you're too good looking to have holes in your ass. We gotcha. Rabbit, you good?"

[TAC3] "Crybaby" Kitty says, "This is Crybaby. I am estimating four minutes until nukes are launched. Repeat, four minutes."

"Aye sire, I'll lock on if she fires on us, concentrate on the weapons..But I'll send a round her way, See if we can't scare her off." Or something. Still he's calling down to the Gallery as the controls are typed out. "Keely!, Beckett, I want out boys to train on the weapons of that bugger, be ready to try and blow up any nukes sent in about Oh, four minutes approximately. And yes. I know we don't have a gods chance. Just do it. Maybe we'll have someone frakking smile on us." And with that beckett is firing off, one volley. If anything it will piss them off more.

[TAC3] "Thorn" Komnenos says, "Thorn confirms. Three minutes, forty seconds and counting."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "Rabbit, Case. I'm tryin' to get the bogey off your ass, but my guidance systems are blown. I'm doin' this by eyeballs alone. Wish me luck."

The sweat begins to pour down Praxis' forehead when his ECM doesn't work. The countdown is nowhere near comforting, and the fact that it would be HIS fault if the Kharon exploded doesn't help either. He takes a long, deep breath and uses that orb atop his shoulders. Swallowing hard, Knight perfects his algorithm and tries to send it in once again. He seconds Beckett's hope that someone is smiling down on them. He ponders saying a 'if this doesn't work' speech, but Demitros skips that part to try once more, sending a virus over the wireless one more time…

No joy on the volley. The Kharon's too far away to do much more than pepper the space half a click away from the basestar. Raiders continue deploying, showing up as blips on DRADIS that swiftly begin to outnumber the friendlies.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "This is Rebound. Case, Rabbit, you two are looking shot to shit, hang back, see if we can take point on these two."
Praxis spends 1 luck points on Ecm on the basestar to keep them from launching nukes and saving everyone's ass. Yay!.

Kai takes a step closer to Praxis' station, eyes flickering from the man's console, to the TACCO himself. "How's the recovery of our birds coming?" It's taut, tense, but those pilots are clearly his top priority.

[TAC3] "Rabbit" Hale says, "Splash-" The rest is cut out into static. "…"

Praxis looks towards Kai for a moment, hand pressing to his ear as he talks into his headset to request the status of the wing. There's no time to express relief that the nuke jamming worked, because there's still the worry of bringing each of the pilots home…

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Rabbit, Case, Black Cat. RTB immediately. Madman, RTB. Everyone else, you have less than two minutes to drop these two Raiders. Prepare to get your ships back in the barn immediately. That Basestar's hauling nukes."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "All pilots, Kharon. report status and ETA! We've successfully jammed basestar nukes, we've bought you more time."

[TAC3] "Case" Samantha says, "*static*… out…*hiss, static* -ems down, working on- *static*"

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Kharon, Mooner. Scratched but fine."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem barks through the wireless, "Kharon, Rebound. Raptors are intact. I'm still lookin' shiny. Hermes loves me. Engaging remaining bandits with your leave."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Black Cat, Madman, ready to take Fox— Oh, for frak's sake. Another one's followed me home."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "All fighters, Kharon. Priority on returning home. Let Beckett mop up the mess and let us jump before the basestar nukes come back online."

[TAC3] "Madman" Matto says, "Oh, nevermind, it lost interest. Black Cat, looks like it might chat you up instead. I'm RTB."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "All ships, you heard CIC. Mooner, Rebound, cover Rabbit and Case's asses as they head back in. Once they're down, land your birds. Madman, remind me to kick the shiny off your ass. Toasters seem to love it."

[STC] "Madman" Matto says, "CIC, Madman, reporting RTB."

Praxis steps away from the ECM console, clasping the junior countermeasures officer on the shoulder, before stopping right at Weaps, eyebrows lifted as he finds Josef. "Beckett, if you can get a clear shot without damaging our people, take it. I don't want to be here any longer than we have to."

Beckett turns his head, before he's nodding. "Aye TACCO, I'll send the flak out once more, once the birds are clear, then it will be my best advice, to get us the frakking frak out of here." And with that the Weapons officer is complying, and letting loose the quick volley once all is clear. "Lieutenant!" Josef's voice raises. "Weapons are back online on the basestar."

[STC] "Knight" Praxis says, "Madman, this is Kharon. Copy that."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "All fighters, Knight at Kharon. I do not mean to seem impatient; however time is of the essence as our temporary jam on their nuclear weapons is no more."

"Sir, jump coordinates set and FTL spooled," pipes up the nav officer, swiveling briefly in his chair to glance at Praxis. "We're ready to go on your mark!"

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "All ships, RTB immediately. Kharon will cover our asses. Mooner, cover me as I go in."

The tactical officer nods at the nav officer, and Beckett's advice is taken to heart. "I share the sentiment, Lieutenant." he remarks, his eyes locking back onto the DRADIS and watching our green little blips converge into the center where the escort carrier resides. They were cutting this way too close. Had the nuke launch not been delayed, they'd be dead already. "Almost there."

[TAC3] "Mooner" Eddie says, "Copy that Black Cat. Rebound, that leaves your ass wide open. Be careful. Let's get our asses in before Daddy realizes we're late for curfew."

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Cat, Rebound. Uh, not to be an ass or anything but should I be leaving my wingman back there alone? This -is- an Escort mission. I don't want to develop a bad rep or anything."

Praxis looks over to ECM. "Time to nuke launch?"

Beckett looks back towards Praxis "Lieutenant, it is in my notion that they will have two minutes before they light us up with those nukes." And with that Josef, falls right back into stony silence.

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "Two minutes to basestar ordinance launch."

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Rebound? Get your ass back to base. I don't care if you do it before or after Mooner, but you're going to catch the trap in the next thirty seconds or be blown to shit. Got it? Both of you get your asses down NOW."

Kai doesn't speak any further. Praxis knows how to do his job, and this is neither his area of expertise, nor his prerogative. He rolls his shoulders out a little, and finally heads for the stairs. "I'm going to greet my men on the flight deck, Lieutenant. Please inform the Colonel." And then, with a brisk nod, he's gone.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "Black Cat, Rebound. Copy that. Hauling ASS. C'mon Mooner. Cmon you too. You can't kick my ass if you're dead out here, Captain!"

Praxis nods to Beckett, then picking up the receiver for the shipwide intercom, informing the whole ship that they will be jumping soon. Kai also receives a nod. "Yes, Captain. I will inform him immediately. Thank you for joining us." Since taking a few deep breaths earlier, Knight was able to retrieve his calm demeanor that usually graces him.

[TAC3] "Rebound" Willem says, "FRAK. Mooner. Mooner. Hold on. SITREP. You still with me?"

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Kharon, Black Cat. Mooner's hit. Preparing SAR if she can't get in. I want Medical in the hangar bay on standby."

[Intercom] Praxis says, "Medical teams to the hangar bay immediately. FTL drive is spooled up - we are jumping without a moment's notice."

[TAC3] "Knight" Praxis says, "All fighters, Kharon. Report in. Are you all aboard?"

[TAC3] "Black Cat" Legacy says, "Kharon, Black Cat. All birds in. I repeat, all birds in."

[Intercom] Praxis says, "Navigation, FTL jump now. All hands brace for distortion."

Right on cue, as the last few vipers screech, skid, skitter and slide to a messy halt on the flight deck, the basestar's port and aft 'points' light up with ordnance being deployed. It doesn't make a sound, but there's no question that's several tonnes of instant death hurtling toward the Kharon. Half a click. A quarter of a click. Two hundred feet. *blink* The ship's jump drives engage, and it skews sideways out of existence.

Once the ship blinks out into jumpspace and emerges on the other side. Praxis breathes a sigh of relief that he didn't know his lungs could handle. The CIC comes alight with cheers and laughter, Demitros wandering up to the Weapons console and offering his hand towards Beckett for a handshake. "Terrific performance, Beckett. That was incredible."

Beckett shakes his head as apparently now the stress just leaves the Weapons officer. A turn about as Praxis comes up, and a thin smile, which is usual for the Weaps' scarred appearance is given. Hand out he returns the shake back. "Thank you Lieutenant." in the same professional saggitarion tones as he can muster "You did a smashing job getting them all in. Always, a joy to serve with you."

Praxis withdraws his hands and folds them behind his back. "Take a break, Lieutenant Beckett. You're relieved. Tanner, you have the deck." It's a fact that Demitros is relieving himself as well. And no, that doesn't mean peeing. The man marches towards the hallway, rather proud of the work he's done this evening.

Beckett nods, once towards Praxis, and with that he's moving to head off as well. probably have a cigarette and bother his wife. Ahh the usual ways one might come to deal with almost being nuked to death. Still the Kharon took no damage. And all were saved. All in all a good, fight.
